Fall Footwear

Happy last day of August! As you know, I can't get fall out of my head, and now I'm obsessed with fall fashion. I've added these shoes to my love list, and I know this fall and winter I'll LIVE in these two looks...

Skinny Jeans + Tall Boot:

This boot takes me back to my Texas roots... but the chunky heel is key to feeling more feminine and less cowboy.



Tights + Ankle Boot:

This ankle boot is perfection because of the fold. Show off those sexy ankles!


(I like to pick completely neutral shoes so I can wear them over and over and over with every single outfit. It really gets you the most bang for your buck)

Tone on Tone

I just got the A-OK from one of my clients to go with a tone-on-tone color theme in her family room. We've been planning on bright red curtains for a while, but I recently had the idea to do an accent chair in the same color. The accent chair will be placed close to the curtains, and be matchy matchy in a great way.

This fall, I'm gonna do it - I'm gonna wear really bright tights. See, with Weight Watchers pretty much completed, I was able to slim my genetically "voluptuous" legs down a bit, and I think I am confident enough to go bright.

Have I mentioned how I can't want for fall? lol

Who's ready for fall?

I AM! Tights, light jackets that you can wear unbuttoned, leaves turning (sort of... not much of that in CA), and cooler nights (lots of those in CA).

One of my favorite things for the fall/winter are wool military blankets. Here are some of my favorites:

Yay, client went with the knobs, but was wondering what she should use for 4 very large drawers on her island.

Classic Knob, Modern Shape.

A client asked for help picking out cabinet hardware for her new white kitchen cabinets. I sent her a few options, but these were my favorite:


Such a great mix of classic (glass/crystal knob) and modern (square shape) in a tiny little package.


I hope she goes with them! :)

My Work

You could say this blog is turning into one big tease... and I'm so not usually a fan of teasers! Many of you have asked to see my work, and truth is nothing is finished yet (hence why everything is being teased) But one of my projects is moving along seamlessly, and I thought I'd share with you what we have so far :)

The clients actually lives about 1.5-2 hours away from me so we've done everything so far via the internet. But one of my favorite wholesale furniture stores delivers to their town, so I'm still able to pick out all the fabric and furniture for them in person.

They actually live right by the beach (lucky!) so we are going with a beachy feel without the beachy "theme". Blues, casual pieces, you get the drift :)

Isn't this chair great? It's from urban outfitters. It's really the only piece the have so far.. but that will change soon!


On a side note - aren't their floors great?? I didn't pick them out, but I love them!

I can't wait to see the finished product... on this project and all my projects! I'm going to hire a professional photographer to shoot this house and also one other home I'm working on.

Kid @ heart

Of all the projects I'm working on right now, I find the most joy in a young girl's bedroom. Maybe I'm a kid at heart? No, I'm actually not, but the colors are just so FUN!



Did I mention the room involves a huge canopy? Yeah - the kind you find on remote islands to keep the mosquitos away.

I hope her mom goes for it!!

Living Vicariously

Well, it just so happens that a previous idea board client of mine emailed me asking if one of Holly's pieces would look good in her dining room:



I said HECK YEAH and directed her to the piece above. The gray top would look amazing with the gray accents I chose for her.

Well... she got it! I'm so excited, I can't wait to see how it looks in her space. I'm definitely living vicariously through her and her proximity to White Berry :)

Did you know there is a website out there that streams your own live video for free? Well sure enough, my husband found it and we set up a nanny cam.... for the dog.

I have to say, it's fun watching her day, but bittersweet because she hangs out by the door a lot :(

The Newlywed Diaries posted pictures of an ah-mazing Martha home, but the picture that stood out to me was this one:



That dog (is it Martha's?) is just too funny... and reminds me so much of Char. Some dogs just hate having their picture taken... and this one just screams "awkward". Too cute!

About a year ago, we fostered the most adorable scruffy dog named Master Mo, and out of any dogs I've ever met, he hated getting his picture taken the most. I believe I posted this before on the blog (about a year ago), but I just couldn't resist:



Doesn't he look like he's in pain? lol. That's what he always did when we pulled out a camera. I miss that little guy! I wanted to adopt him but it just didn't work out and to this day I still regret it :(

IKEA 2010 Notes

I spent some quality time with my new IKEA 2010 catalog this past weekend. IKEA catalogs are great because it takes 20+ times to go through it to really take note of all your favorite little things. Here are some things I took note of on my 3rd time through:

NASSAJO Candle Holder - $7.99
I really love reflective quality of this simple votive holder. These are definitely on my shopping list!


Mystery Throw?
When I saw this scene, the first thing I really saw was that fabulous herringbone-looking throw. I have no idea if it's from IKEA but I'm really really hoping it is.


Metal Lighting
I love both lighting pieces in this image! Especially the task light - I wonder if it's a floor lamp or desk lamp.


Karlstad Armchair - $249
I've loved the Karlstad series for a long time, but who knew how amazing the armchairs looked from behind? Definitely eye opening (props to the shoot stylist).


Another thing I loved right away was their industrial shelving. Who says it has to say in the garage? I fully plan on putting either one of these types of shelving units in my future office. And bonus - the price is right.
