A room for two sisters

Recently I created a bedroom design board for two little sisters. I love designing for children, it's just plain fun!

Their mom asked for fun, sophisticated, girly but not TOO girly (i.e no pink). Here is what I came up with...

I'd like to note that not one item in the room is from a children's store or section. I think the best children's rooms are made with (inexpensive) adult things put together in a playful way!

Love it! The different colors and patterns go very well together. Wish my room looked like that when I was younger!

  3. Beautiful, thoughtful design! I totally agree that designing for youth spaces doesn't have to be from a children's store. This way, the furniture can go with them, when they get older.

  10. LOVE. Such a great combo of color and pattern, and this would work for little girls on up through their teen years. Also loving just that hit of ruffle on the duvets to sweeten it up the right amount. So cute!

As a mother of two I think your thoughts on decorating spaces for kids is spot on. I wasted a lot of money on baby furniture. I wish somehow had told me to buy a great low dresser instead of a changing table.
