Real Estate Stalker - House Beautiful Addition

I'm not going to lie, I love stalking real estate listings in the best neighborhoods of Charlotte. It's so fun getting a little peek into beautiful, old (and very large) homes.

Well I recently clicked on a listing and was like WOAH! I recognize that kitchen!



I'm sure you do, too....


It's really fun seeing other pictures from a home that's in House Beautiful. Here are some more pictures...

This home was designed by Lindsey Coral Harper. She's an interior designer based out of NYC. She actually came into Isabella a couple of times and was really sweet. I'm glad she got the front page of House Beautiful!

I'm not posting the real estate link because if it were me, I wouldn't want my address posted on a random blog. But since the home's pictures were published in a national magainze, I figured they are fair game ;)

Yay for Charlotte being represented in my favorite design mag, woot woot!

EDIT: There were some comments asking about the price... The price of the home is currently $1,875,000.

A Trip Back In Time

I stumbled upon this home via the CLTblog twitter feed. The tweet said there are two pre-1850 homes for sale in Charlotte right now. This is pretty rare because there are only around 5-10 in the city.

I followed the link to this article. Which led me to the discovery of these images of one of the homes for sale. (Isn't the internet great?)

If I had $1.2 million laying around, I would buy this home in a HEARTBEAT. The owners restored the home and it is breathtaking! It's just how I imagine 1850 would look but with modern plumbing and electricity.

I'm not sharing the pictures so much for the decor (although it definitely fits the house), but for the house itself. It's just breathtaking. I wouldn't change a thing, I would just move in some modern furniture mixed with antiques (just like American Modern) and call it a day.

Doesn't it just make you want to put on a long dress, tie your hair up in a bun and pop out 10 kids???

And here is the crazy part - although it looks like it's out in the country, it's 5 minutes to one of my favorite shopping centers that has Home Depot, Staples Pier 1 and Starbucks. Definitely the best of both worlds.

I'm alive!

Yes, I'm here! A couple random thoughts/updates: The move was great... Charlotte (the dog) couldn't have been better flying, she just slept the whole time! I didn't even need to give her benedryl. I love being back with my husband (he's making me a cappuccino right now!!) but I really miss our furniture.... sleeping on an air mattress sucks! I'm not sure when we'll get it. boo.

Tomorrow I'll be responding to any emails I haven't gotten to during the move and also contacting my new Charlotte clients (yay!!). Next steps will be getting all my tax forms and LLC information set up so bryn alexandra interiors will be official!

Oh yeah, I will also be painting our bedroom black! :)

Big Announcement : Part 2

So what exactly prompted me to leave my day job? Well....

Part 2 of the Big Announcement is:

Yup! North Carolina, here we come! And yes, our dog Charlotte is coming with us to Charlotte, North Carolina. Is it fate? Perhaps!

This was a great opportunity that came up through my husband's job. A relocation with the same job he does now (which he loves) and the same pay, which is a big plus considering NC is much less expensive than Southern California. This was one of the huge deciding factors for us. We'll be able to live comfortably and this opportunity will allow me to work from home doing what I love to do - decorating and design. And have I mentioned NC is the furniture mecca of the US? I know I'll be right at home!

The game plan is for me to set up shop in our humble apartment doing interior decorating and design full time. We'll be living in the apartment for one or two years and then we'll (hopefully) be purchasing a home. We have visited Charlotte and we absolutely LOVE IT. I've longed for seasons, trees, inexpensive gas and groceries. And RAIN! I miss rain so much! And Hobby Lobby! Charlotte has all of the above and so much more. We've spent too much money trying to survive here and it's time for us to live the simpler life. As I have said, it's such an amazing opportunity. We are blessed.

So guess what this means?

I'm now taking local clients in the Charlotte area!

I am willing to travel up to two hours around the area. Because I'll be new to the area and will need new clients, I'm offering 25% off all my services to local clients. Email me for more info :) Also, since I'll be doing my thing full time, I'll be taking on even more e-decorating clients and offering some fun new services (more on that later).

If you don't need my services but still live in the area, I'd also love to hear from you! We don't know hardly anyone out there, so I'd love to connect with fellow bloggers.

My moving day is set for Jan 29th.

And for those of you who are wondering, YES I am still painting our bedroom at the apartment BLACK! In fact, you'll be seeing TONS of DIY projects and posts about how to make the most out of what you got (like our terribly boring builder beige paint in our new apartment).
