It was $25 marked down from $50 and I thought it was pretty cool so I bought it.
When I got home.. I looked at it and thought "what was I thinking??"
When it comes to clothes, I'm super simple and I don't normally take risks. I'm wondering when I'll actually wear this thing!
When I bought it, I was imaging it with a casual white T or tank (like I'm wearing in the pic above) with some jeans like these:

So what do you think... would you wear this thing on a normal Tuesday or keep it for evening/special occasions only?
(my answer: I think I'd feel too silly to wear it during the day!)
I love it and tons of girls here in Dallas rock sequins all day long!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about being a simple dresser. But I think the jacket is cute and you could totally wear it for an evening out -- dinner, a concert, a special occasion. HOWEVER, if you feel silly/overdressed in it then you aren't going to wear it and I'd say return it.
ReplyDeleteFor $25, I'd say keep it. I'm a simple dresser, too. But I find that it's nice to have one or two fun/funky pieces to spruce up my basics. That would be super cute with the jeans you showed for a girls night out, with black pants for a cultural event, etc.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the first pic, I didn't love it, but it looks great on you!! I really like it! Probably too much for a typical Tuesday, but who knows, if you have something a little more exciting going on, why not?
ReplyDeleteOh you must keep it - especially for $25. Pair it with a black tank and jeans and it's a date night/dinner out outfit.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great on you and I agree you should pair it with a simple white tank and distressed jeans. Such a fab look and super duper stylish! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Funny, I just bought some sequined pants from Zara on sale. Have some fun with fashion - it's still simple (a white blazer) but just has an extra oomph! Disclaimer though - I live in New Orleans where sequins are a little more acceptable on a day to day basis - especially during Mardi Gras season! ;) Team Sequins! -Boo
ReplyDeleteI am going against the grain and saying no way. It reminds me of Grandma Yetta. Then again I am the only one saying no and as a stay at home mom I have no clue what is in style these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm not huge into the look for daytime, but it's perfect when you want to add a little edge to a casual nighttime look! The juxtaposition between casual and fancy is fun for a night out! Plus it fits you perfectly. But if you don't love it, don't keep it!
ReplyDeleteCUTE! I say keep it too. As I type though, I have on JCrew Matchstick jeans and a striped sequin top and flats. I don't mind sequins in the day as long as the look is casual. But this jacket would be fantastic for either. You could easily wear it over a dress on a chilly night and it would look so cute! I will be off to the Marshalls/Home Goods near me later today to see what they have.
ReplyDeleteIts cute so its a keeper, I'd wear it and night :) paired with a cute tissue style top
ReplyDeleteI would look silly in it, but I think it'd look great on you with jeans and a tee!! Why not rock it??
ReplyDeleteRamblings of a Suburban Mom
Please keep it and wear it with the jeans! Take a pic and show us when you wear it for a night out. What a great find! Sequins are in! Just go to J Crew and look around!!
ReplyDeleteI think it would look a little gaudy at night (like you were trying and didn't quite nail it) but I love (LOVE) it for during the day. But yes, you need to wear it "ironically" by pairing it with more basic items like you did. I love what another commenter said about pairing it with a black top for more contrast. Also, I would play around with rolling or "hiking" the sleeves up a little so they don't fall right with the hemline. A long sleeve under it could be fun too... roll the longer sleeves up to right under the jackets' so you get a peek of about 2-3" of the long sleeve.
ReplyDeletedefinitely keep it at that price!!! So cute. I think it's fun with your jeans for day and especially a casual dinner out.
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep it. Simple shouldn't mean not taking risks --- classic lines, clean silhouettes and crisp colors can hold up well against a bit of sparkle. That jacket when paired with jeans is the perfect twist to a simple outfit.
ReplyDeleteseriously bryn - take me shopping at marshalls with you. i can never find anything there. i want this jacket. total keeper :) ray
ReplyDeleteDefinitely with jeans or black pants for a night out!
ReplyDeleteI'd wear it out at night, but not during the day.
ReplyDeleteMarshalls/TJ Maxx/Homegoods - it's like the perfect trifecta, right!? I think the jacket is incredibly cute! :) I always leave the tags on blazers and take them for a test run to make sure they fit/feel good before I commit.
ReplyDeleteI would wear this ALL. THE. TIME. Seriously, it is amazing - I say rock the hell out of it with everything. Also... you could try it with a casual dress and tights in a dark color... I want one!
ReplyDeleteI'm a casual dresser myself but every once in a while I wear something blingy and I feel fancy! So yes, wearing it to WalMart in the middle of the day probably isn't a good idea, but wearing it out on a girls night on the town would be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the earlier commentators are most likely properly, That's very good, continue to keep the idea away i'm checking pertaining to the next one post! furniture restoration
ReplyDeleteKeep it and wear it! It's so super cute. Or if you aren't comfortable wearing it (which you should!) then use the fabric to turn it into a killer pillow cover.
ReplyDeleteI would so rock that jacket with a pair of dk indigo jeans and a silk cami for a cocktail party or happy hour.
ReplyDeleteI have some glitter shoes and don't wear them often, but on days I need to feel sparkly, I do. I think your sequin jacket is a similar sort of purchase.
