Room, Recreated

I stumbled upon this picture and I really love it. I found it here. EDIT - I found out whose living room it is. It belongs to Karen from The Art of Doing Stuff. She is sooo talented and is now a new favorite of mine! Check out her entire house here.

I thought it'd be fun to recreate the room for you folks at home.

Here is my budget friendly version:

  1. What a fun exercise! I think the items you selected would really translate beautifully into a room with a similar look! Nice to meet you in NYC, although briefly...what a fun day! Janell

  4. Beautiful recreation Bryn!

By the way, the image is from the home of Karen Bertelson and was featured in a recent Style at Home magazine. Karen has a fabulous and funny blog called The Art of Doing Stuff that you must check out!

    Have a great weekend,

  5. Lovin' it! What a great mix of natural materials, modern lines and elegant timeless pieces- like the mirror. I am also loving the wall color-I'm thinking I might redo my own living room in a simple cream hue like this! Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. That is a gorgeous room and I love the look for less. I've been wanting one of those side tables for awhile now...the perfect touch of nature!

  8. Hi everyone! Thanks for the compliments! That's my living room your'e looking at. The funny part is I did it for REALLY cheap. Looks like I succeeded in making it look expensive! I made the table, found the gold mirror at a garage sale for $5, bought a couple of things at Homesense (Homegoods) and got the rug at Costco! Among other things! Beautiful job at the recreation Bryn! Funny! - karen

  10. Thank you for the tips on recreating this wonderful room on a budget! I came across your post this afternoon while browsing interior design blogs and the topic of window treatment selection was very interesting to me. What window coverings would look best in a room such as this? It is true that you must dress your windows appropriately to bring out their true beauty. Thank you for writing and as a special thanks to you and your readers, I would like to offer a 20% off coupon using this code upon checkout: BLG20.

  13. Bryn, this is almost exactly like the original room - love it!

I saw you in NYC but didn't get a chance to chat with you. Love your blog (have you on my blogroll for awhile) and it has been mentioned a few times as a favourite in the BYW course I'm in right now.
