Making the most of the ceiling

Folks, we close on the house THIS FRIDAY assuming nothing major goes wrong. (You sometimes see horror stories on My First Place and shows like that, so I won't be completely relaxed until we have the keys in our hands).

One thing I loved when viewing this house is the pointed/vaulted ceiling in the Master Bedroom.

To be honest, I think this room will be the last to be decorated, because I really want to spend time thinking about it and making it special (which is hard to find time to do).

But what I DO know is that the ceiling makes for a very grand bed. Here are some inspirations:

A super tall headboard?

Or tall canopy?

  1. FYI- they say never to close on a Friday. If paperwork is missing something- you'll most likely have to wait until Monday to proceed with the process if its late in the day. People have been known to be stuck all weekend with a packed moving truck and nowhere to live for the weekend! Unless you've turned in your keys, I'm sure this won't be the case for you though. Good luck! Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly.

  2. i love all of these! after moving into our first place, things are starting to look like we live there... except for the bedroom... i had a few of these photos for inspriation, but we have a small room... thinking a lower version of one of these :)

  3. Congrats on being so close to closing! These are all gorgeous. Tinsley Mortimer's is maybe a little over the top, but I think since I don't have the space for one and wish for the ceiling height someday, I vote for the four-poster instead of a headboard. Depends on home much you like to play with textiles! Looking forward to see what you come up with.

  4. Our ceiling is a bit taller but I was also leaning towards the canopy bed (IKEA has a sensibly priced one), a tall headboard, or just a wall of art. The husband vetoed the canopy bed so my choices are narrowed...
Hope all goes well at closing! *crossing fingers and toes!*

  5. I'm so happy for you and your hubby and your almost own home! I literally cannot wait to see your transformations! Love all of these bedrooms - I'm really loving upholstered headboards right now, but I also love the one that appears to be old tall wood doors!

  6. Definitely go with the canopy. That's one thing I'm set on for our new house. They're so versatile- you can switch up the linens/go without. Good luck on the closing!

  7. I can't wait to see what you do with your master bedroom. My master is very similar with the vaulted ceilings but I'm having a hard time pulling the room together. I have the Colette bed from Crate & Barrel which I love love LOVE, but can't quite come up with a plan that I love. I'm hoping I can draw a little inspiration for what you do with your bedroom!!!!

  9. Thanks so much for posting these great canopy bed inspiration pictures! I have a black, wrought iron canopy bed that I have been struggling with decorating around, and these images helped so much!
