To say my life is a bit hectic right now is an understatement. I'm so thankful that I'm able to live what I love and work with a handful of really great clients, along with keeping a full time day job and salary. Really, I'm so lucky and can't wait until my portfolio is done. But this blog is here so I can be real with you guys... it's not the easiest time right now.
For instance, other things in my life has suffered - mainly keeping up with the house and cooking duties. I've gotten in the habit of nagging my husband to take care of everything while I tackle one full time job and one start up business, but it's not fair nor right of me to do so. (I'll keep it real - it kinds of reminds me of the fights from "The Breakup": Why would anyone WANT to want to do the dishes? You have to laugh at that.)
So what does this have to do with a garage sale? Well, the easiest way to make things in your life simpler is to purge, purge, purge. Or as Jess says "exfoliate".
So here's the scoop. I'm going to take pictures of items that are just getting in the way of simple, daily life. I'll box them up in priority shipping - you pay the shipping cost and their yours. Most of the items will be free, some will have [small] price tags, but in bryn alexandra fashion, everything will be thrifty.
So you really want me to keep it real? Here are two disastrous areas in our home right now. I literally had the hubby (who is enjoying a staycation right now, lucky guy) snap these right now as I write this post.
I won't be posting things all at once, and since many of the items will be free/very inexpensive the photography won't be ideal.
On a side note, I wonder if I can create a click to purchase paypal button that can go directly in the post? Some minor things to work on.
My big Friday night plans is to go through stuff to donate to the virtual garage sale.
So what do you think - any readers out there interested?

ReplyDeleteI give a lot of things away on Craigslist, but the time it takes to actually give something for free (post about it, field emails, stay at home for big items to be picked up, get stood up, post item again...) is so annoying. I think you're onto something!
definitely interested, please let us know!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, jackpot! YES! I'm totally interested. Particularly in anything Cuban-esque or turquoise. I have a bright yellow wall and a cigar glazed red wall, and am looking to Cubanize my living room. With turquoise accents. If you have anything like that, I'll buy a whole big box from ya!

ReplyDeleteWe are purging too, and I like the idea of your virtual yardsale. I keep trying to sell stuff on craigslist, but only scammers respond.
ReplyDeleteI totally feel your pain about the not having time for cooking and cleaning after you take on a second job you love pain...A year and a half ago I started a business that has been really busy, but along with my real job and home improvement projects, there isn't much time left over. Luckily my hubs has learned to cook and he doesn't make me feel bad about having him do all the work.
