space of the day

For as long as I can remember, I've loved deep, cobalt rich blues.

So naturally I am drawn to this space. Specifically the chair, the mirror and the birch:

space of the day

I dedicate this space of the day to my client, Laura, who is still on the fence about using Ghost Chairs with a farmhouse table :)

Laura - they would be PERFECT for your smaller scaled dining area!!

I'm sure you've seen it: space of the day

This space of the day is actually an entire house (which is why I conveniently named it space of the day instead of room of the day).

I'm sure many of you have seen it, but in case not... you are in for a treat. I just love everything about this home which was featured on apartment therapy.

space of the day

I'm just dying to find a (really large!) mirror just like this one (and of course, for a good price)....

No luck.

space of the day

Enjoy this pretty from former Domino mag.

So... what's going on in my life. A lot of this, a lot of that. This weekend I'll be spending a lot of quality time with some of my favorite clients while I start tackling the styling of their home. I've been working with this particular client since May while they tackled a total renovation.

I'm excited to see how all the pretty pictures in my head unfold... !

As promised, a pretty picture for today.

This one is especially pretty (from House Beautiful)

My husband and I have this little thing that we do when we are shocked/upset/stressed.... it goes something like this:

asgkasjgklasd;gjasklgjaklsjgakersljgakdsjgadksgjaskgl;jasdgkljdasg;kasjdgas;ldgkjsd

This pretty much describes the next 9 days for me. My day job + side job + personal life all need my attention right now so unfortunately the blog is getting the back burner.

With that said, I will still try to post some pretty pictures for you to look at. Here is one in particular that I am loving right now:

space of the day

Oh, how I love modern chairs with antique tables. Love love love. Do you think this is a fad that will go away? I love it so much, it's hard to tell.

space of the day

I love when I find new-to-me designers that I can drool over and look up to. Today I discovered Ellen Hanson, who brings us today's space of the day:

I love her choice of artwork. As I've mentioned in the past, that's the hardest part, ya know.

space of the day

Today's space of the day is a reflection of how I feel right now...

A lot going on.

Isn't the space kind of cool though? I found it via google images while searching "cluttered spaces". Apparently it's "an exhibit showing a small and incredibly cluttered room belonging to reclusive Chicago writer-artist Henry Darger".

I can't say I'm familiar with his work, but I love his dark walls, artwork and marble fireplace.

Okay, back to my insanely busy life!

space of the day

I'm giddy like a school girl while begging a client of mine to do a jewel-toned velvet tufted sofa (plum to be exact), which has inspired today's space of the day.

Check out this lovely emerald velvet sofa:

In honor of my black design board in the previous post, I present to you a beautiful black room by Windsor Smith:

space of the day

Today's space of the day comes to you from Katie Fine Design. Oh how I just love her designs, particularly this one:

It's so... simple yet complex. I love the bits of brass, and that ottoman! But there aren't that many elements in the room. I really love designers who can do that. I'm all about simplicity and no "fluff". I really hope I can acheive that in my rooms, but I know it will take time to develop that talent.

I want to thank you lovely readers for the little bits of kindness in yesterday's post. Yesterday I tivo'd Nie Nie on Oprah, what an amazing segment. It really put things in perspective for me on a bad day. I woke up today refreshed and ready to live life in the moment!

space of the day

Let's be real - everyone has an "off" day now and again. Today is one of those days for me... I'm feeling a mix of emotions along the lines of frustration/anxiousness/impatience. I want things to happen, and I want them to happen NOW! Oh and while I'm at it, I also don't want to be poor anymore (doesn't everyone??).

Today's space of the day is a dark bedroom that I'd love to just slip into bed, turn on the fire and mellow out in. I believe it was originally posted on designspongeonline.com.

Here's to a better day tomorrow!

There is not one thing in this photo that I don't love.

space of the day

How could I NOT do a space of the day from Lonny Mag? I know, I know... this picture is all over the place, but sorry. I love it!

That office space is perfect, and it leaves me considering the ikea office chair + ikea faux fur rug as an alternative option to this:

On a side note, King Charles Spaniels are my favorite dogs ever. Unfortunately, I most likely will never have one because they are so extremely expensive... I just can't pay for a designer dog when so many "mutts" out there need to be saved. And, again unfortunately, it's rare to find a King Charles rescue in good health.

I do, however, love my little "knock off" version of a King Charles Spaniel:

She was a rescue and is a spaniel-breed mutt, yet still has the same precious eyes and temperament of the real thing :)

Happy Weekend!!

space of the day

Sorry I've missed the last couple days. BUT here is a pretty space of the day for you to enjoy.

I chose it for today because right now I'm...

a) super busy so I thought an office was fitting

and

b) I am working on an office space for a client, and it's her own special office so it can (and probably will) be just as girly :)

space of the day

I'm sure you've noticed, but I really like to pick spaces for space of the day that relate to what I am thinking about that day. Today I was chatting about babies and how I can't wait to have one.

If I were pregnant with a baby girl, THIS is how I'd design her nursery:

Bright, pink floral curtains, tufting and stripes, and a bone in-lay dresser that she can use the rest of her life.

This bedroom is from Anna Spiro of Absolutely Beautiful Things. It's actually a master bedroom, but that's one of the reasons I love it so much - it's a beautiful, mature room that doesn't scream "baby!" like most nurseries.

I promise the baby talk ends today ;) Have a great weekend!

On The Prowl

Currently I'm on the prowl for a large, long inexpensive cabinet/sideboard/dresser/credenza type piece of furniture for a client's formal living room.

Just like Jenny from Little Green Notebook, I saved this project from Design Sponge to my inspiration folder:

I also bring to you the space(s) of the day, which feature similar pieces:

Whichever one I find, I'm going to paint white and possibly put some interesting hardware on it.

I do know for sure I'm putting two large, pretty lamps on top...

I hope Salvation Army is good to me today! :)

Happy Fall & S.O.T.D

Today is the first official day of fall*, and also 7 days away from our 2 year wedding anniversary :) I wish I could say we were doing something exciting like a trip to Paris or a romantic dinner on the beach, but we don't have plans. Truth be told, we're not big on celebrating things like birthdasy and holidays... maybe when we are older with a little more disposable income.

Speaking of the husband, he's in NYC for business and I am so very jealous, I wish I could have tagged along with him again this time. To fill the void, he sends me cute little iPhone pictures during the day. This one was my favorite so far:

I told him I wanted to put it on my blog, and he told me I don't have his consent. So I blocked out his face :)

hehehehe

On the subject of fall, here is a S.O.T.D. that features a pretty fall colored plant, or flower, or something botanical:

I love the big square of chalkboard paint. I can just imagine a holiday party in this space with a big hand-drawn Christmas tree on the wall. Can't you? Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself :)

*even though it's the beginning of fall, it's supposed to be in the 100s today and tomorrow. I wish the East Coast could send some rain our way!
