Three Bloggers & A Pretty White Box

I recently asked three of my favorite bloggers to participate in a "White Box Challenge" for Joy & Revelry. I picked one of my favorite Joy & Revelry items and it was sent to these ladies without them knowing what it was.

The challenge was called the "White Box Challenge" because the items were sent in white shipping boxes. But after I selected my item, I realized this literally was a "white box" challenge ;)

I chose this lacquered and lucite box because I think it's a beautiful, versatile piece. The picture above doesn't do it justice! It's large and heavy.. the quality is really amazing. AND it has the most beautiful wood inlay that looks like zebra stripes! You'll see more in the pictures below.

Here is what the three talented ladies did with their surprise item!

Lauren Liess from Pure Style Home - One of my all time favorite designers and bloggers, Lauren is so sweet and SO insanely talented. She has (in my opinion) the perfect style: casual and comfortable with an eclectic vibe and a touch of traditional. I LOVE the juxtaposition of the modern lacquered and lucite box on her old, antique dresser. Check out her post here!

Chassity from Look Linger Love - Chassity is one of the most stylish (and cutest) bloggers out there and lives in one of my all time favorite cities.. Charleston. I was blown away when I saw her White Box Challenge styling.. that girl has some mad bookcase styling skills! Check out her post here!

Stefanie from Brooklyn Limestone: I have been a follower/fan of Stefanie for years. Seriously... I think it's been like 6 or 7 years!! Crazy! She has a breathtakingly beautiful limestone in the heart of Brooklyn that her and her husband restored to perfection. I love that she used her pretty box to hide some not so pretty things, like remotes! Check out her post here!

I love that all three ladies had such a unique take on the challenge.. this was really fun for me to do! And I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Lauren, Chassity and Stefanie for participating.

If you want to get a white box of your own, use promo code "BRYN_WHITEBOX_10" at checkout to get 10% off! (ps - they also come in turquoise and black if the white isn't your thing!)

Spotted on True Blood!

Have you guys been watching the new season of True Blood? We have... and I'm sort of on the fence about this season so far...

BUT I was super excited to see one of my Joy & Revelry shop picks featured in Bill's house!
It looks like the prop folks at True Blood used the large size, which is $279. Check it out here!

Pamela Munger Original Paintings

I have another talented artist to share with you today! Her name is Pamela Munger and she creates the most beautiful oil and acrylic landscapes. And here is the coolest thing about her and her art - she lives on a rural farm in Colorado where they grow hops for microbreweries, and her inspiration for her paintings is taken from the open land all around her. What a beautiful, simple life!

She does both classic landscape paintings and abstract paintings, and I honestly love both. I've selected 6 of her original paintings for you (and they are really, really affordable! Great pieces to start off an art collection):

Morning River

Most of the pieces I selected for my Lauren Adams Pop Up Shop are small scale works, but I did select one large canvas for the event. I LOVE it, I wish I could have it for my own home!

I thought it would be fun to decorate a room around this piece.. here is what I came up with:

Painting // Sofa // Chandelier // Accent Table // Wall Color // Leopard Pillow // Striped Pillow (Ryan Studio) // Accent Chair

I think this painting would look amazing against a dark blue/green wall, and Hague Blue is one of the best colors out there. Then mix in a funky mix of furniture and accessories, and it would make for a gorgeous living room!!

Lauren Adams Pop Up Shop on Joy & Revelry

I am so excited to share with you this pop up shop I curated for Joy & Revelry!

I've been a huge fan of Lauren Adams for a couple years now. Last year, I purchased one of her small 4x6 abstracts for my own gallery wall and it's one of my favorite pieces.

My Lauren Adams 4x6 abstract, currently hanging in my family room.
One major reason I love having a shop with Joy & Revelry is getting the chance to support my favorite artists and also getting to pick my favorite pieces to share with you!

I love Lauren's pieces because they are so delicate and simple, but they still have so much movement and (depending on the piece) color. I have never seen anything like them!

I want to share with you how Lauren Adams describes her art:

My work is inspired by my home; by the lush hills and glittering rivers that drew my ancestors from their own mountainous regions  of remote lands to settle in this place, their new home, now my home - West Virginia.

I revel in the act of painting; utilizing a combination of thin veils of color and thick oil paint to create a dialogue between intuitive painting and my background in working en plein aire. The feeling of place that is established through texture, color and rhythm is essential to that dialogue. Simplicity is pursued as I break down the landscape to its purest form, portraying its true essence.

I selected 15 of my very favorite pieces from Lauren for my Joy & Revelry pop up shop. Here are a couple of them:
#267 - $65
#225 - $75
#413 - $40
Neutral Landscapes (Set of 2) - $60
Black & White - $65

These pieces are originals only, there aren't any prints in the pop up shop. In fact, Lauren doesn't make prints of any of her pieces, which I think is really cool. They are best viewed as originals, so you can see the multiple layers of paint and the detail she puts into them.

Check out the rest of the shop here! I hope you enjoy it!

A Dreamy Closet & A Mustard Yellow Ottoman

This amazing closet has been popping up in my Pinterest feed lately.. I can't even imagine having a closet like this (and the clothes to fill it!)
Nate Berkus
But it wasn't the closet that caught my attention, it was gorgeous mustard yellow ottoman. It reminds me of the mustard yellow ottoman I selected for my shop!

For those of us who don't have such a fabulous closet, here are some pieces to create a "look for less" that would work anywhere in your home:

Joy & Revelry: Naturally Eclectic (& More)

Today I wanted to share with you my "naturally eclectic" environment I styled for Joy & Revelry!

I think this one is my favorite.. look at that gorgeous backyard and fountain! The fountain is an antique and was my favorite part of this beautiful home we shot our environments at.

This shot was all about an eclectic mix of organic and natural looking pieces.. my favorite type of style!

Here are some of my favorite pieces I selected for this style:

I also love the funky console table we used in this shot. The wood grain is so pretty!
Now that Joy & Revelry has launched, I'll be sharing more of my product selections and how to incorporate them together with you!

And last but not least, here are some fun pictures of the amazing weekend we had during the Style Summit!

Joy & Revelry LAUNCH DAY!

Today is a really, really special day... it's the official launch of Joy & Revelry! And that also means my Joy & Revelry shop is open for business!

Although it wasn't too long ago I was in San Francisco with my fellow mavens, it's been a couple weeks and the team has been hard at work getting everything ready to go.

The new site not only features our shops, but also has some great videos introducing you to each of the mavens. Here is my video:

Most of the work we did in SF during the Style Summit was shooting environmental shots for the site. I'm really excited to share with you my environments, and the products I selected for my shop that coordinate with them!

My first environment that I created is called Classically Feminine. Much like most women, I adore anything that is pretty and feminine. But I also always like the pieces I bring into my home to be a bit simple, streamlined and classic. That is what inspired me for this environment shot!

I've grouped together some "Classically Feminine" products available in my shop (that I also used in my environment shot)

One thing that really sets Joy & Revelry apart from other sites are the product reviews. Whenever I'm buying things online, I ALWAYS read the product reviews and it's even better when I can see pictures of how the products were used in a space. Well, Joy & Revelry took it one step further and had us review many of our favorite products in person!

Here are some examples of my reviews of products in my "Classically Feminine" collection! (please excuse my awkwardness, I'm not too great in front of a camera haha)

Tomorrow I'll be sharing with you my "Naturally Eclectic" environment shot and products, but for now please check out Joy & Revelry and let us know what you think!

Joy & Revelry Style Summit

Good Monday Morning! I'm excited to share with you a recap about what I was up to last week while away :)

If you have missed the news, I have recently partnered with an amazing new e-commerce site called Joy & Revelry. In short, it's not another flash sale, but it's a site that houses curated shops from select interior designers and bloggers! And I am so honored and excited to be a part of the founding team!

The other designers/bloggers, also called "style mavens", that joined me in SF for the Summit are Courtney from Courtney Out Loud, Reichel from Copy Cat Chic, Paloma from La Dolce Vita and Chelsea from Yours Truly and Rue Mag! Once we officially launch, I'll share the shops of these talented people with you!

Okay, now for the fun part.. the pictures!! ;)

Here is the view from the rooftop deck where we stayed. Can you believe the views?!

On a side note, I was embarrassed at how little I knew about the city of San Francisco. It was really great to be shown the city by locals (the Joy & Revelry team is located in the city).

The Style Summit was held from Thursday-Sunday and it was jam packed full of inspiring collaboration, brainstorming, beautiful scenery and amazing food ;)

This image below makes me laugh! It was taken via Reichel on the first night. We had dinner at the house made for us by a chef, it was amazing! As you can see, we are all addicted to social media :)

The majority of the trip was spent gathering images and video for the site launch.

Some sneak peeks of my style shots...

There couldn't have been a better team than the group at Joy & Revelry.. including the stylist, photographer, videographer and crew that helped with the shoot. We all worked together so well, and had such a fun time, too. Everyone involved really loves what they do and I think that's why the two day shoot went by so seamlessly. I cannot wait to see the end result (which as I mentioned, will all be up on the Joy & Revelry site).

Working together as a team.. our photographer was awesome!

I realize this looks random ;) This shot was taken by Nissa, our stylist, while I was doing a product review video in the homeowner's closet! We liked the wood tones of his built ins behind me. On a side note, the homeowner rents his home out on a regular basis to Pottery Barn and William Sonoma for their catalog shoots! Very cool!

The entire experience was amazing, and as I've mentioned a thousand times, I am so excited and blessed and honored to be a part of this venture and also to be doing it with such talented people. I will be sharing more with you soon, but we are slated to launch on April 30th! I really feel strongly that this site is going to be something refreshing and wonderful in the world of a million flash sites and home decor e-commerce sites... I can't wait to share it with you!!

You can read other Style Maven recaps here:

After San Francisco, I stopped in Denver for a couple days of rest, relaxation and quality time with my roomie from college. I'll share that portion of the trip with you in another post :)
