Question?

Question for everyone!

Do you think this rattan pouf....

will hold up to some glossy spray paint? Or perhaps paint on a sponge roller? I'd love to see it in light blue.

Hmm.....

  1. NO! i don't think it would hold up to spray paint! that material would soak it all up, and not coat evenly. also i think with all those nooks and crannies it wouldn't dry properly and honestly would be a total mess. if you want to incorporate some blue put a blue rug under it!

  2. Im not a rattan fan (or as us old fold call it, wicker!).

But I think it probably could be spraypainted...you'd just need to do several very light coats to make sure you got in all the crevices without drips.

  5. I think it would look good but I would try to find something similar (and cheaper) to try it out on first. $88 is a lot to spend if it doesn't work!

  6. I don't feel good about painting it either!

  8. I think it's much like painting wicker-and should work...problem is as people use it it will crack and break here and there and will have obvious spots a diff color. I'm not sure if it will hold color being I think it has a sheen to it if I remember right...This is the one from UO? I saw it in person last weekend...

  9. We have a rattan stool in our LR (it's about 4 yrs old) and as the that is starting to show its age in the way that jmae described. Real rattan in high traffic areas tends to peel, splinter, shred i nmy experience. So if its painted, same goes for the paint.

I say yay if it's purely a decorative piece. Nay if it's a highly used item. =]

  11. I like it how it is, but what about pinning on blue accents? Or tying blue fabric around it in a bow (depending on what look you are going for!)

  12. I have an ottoman that looks to be made out of similar material, and, based solely on that, I would say no to painting. I don't think paint would adhere well at all. It's cute though!
