Matt and I Have A Date

And it's set for Friday night - we are cleaning out and organizing our closets! FUN! No but seriously this is really great to do every once and a while, and I love to organize!

Before I decide to keep or throw away - I am going to really sit down and think about my fashion and what "staples" I want and need. This brings me to Tim Gunn - I have a weird "even though he's gay and so much older than me" crush on him - he is just so knowledgeable about clothes and woman's bodies. One of my favorites of his is his 10 Essential Items list:

Tim Gunn's 10 Essential Items Every Woman Needs:
  1. Basic black dress
  2. Trench coat
  3. Classic dress pants
  4. Classic white shirt
  5. Skirt
  6. Blazer
  7. Day dress
  8. Cashmere sweater
  9. Jeans
  10. A comfortable alternative to a sweatsuit

I think I own most of these items - (maybe I'll have to go shopping for a few *wink wink*), the key is to really get rid of the rest of the "trash", so even on days where you just want to throw something on - at least it will look somewhat decent.

I will have to take pictures of our process and post them. (Unfortunately MIL took back her Digital SLR :( Even more of a reason for me to get a Rebel.)

When I first watched that show, I was running around like a crazy person trying to find a piece of paper to write down that list! Thanks for posting!!..I lost my copy! :)

  3. Enjoy your date night! I absolutely love organizing - especially closets! Thanks for posting this list too - I am going to use it when I do a little spring cleaning in my own closet. (CeeCee23)
