My new antique rug arrived very quickly and I am very happy with it! However, it wasn't nearly as blue as I had expected. This is what it looked like on the website:
It actually has much more red in it. At first I was bummed and I wasn't sure if I would keep it. But then it grew on me and I now love it.
Although I hate that our floors have so much red in them, it is what it is and the rug works with them.
Even though the colors weren't accurate, I still love the antique feel and the pattern of the rug.
This past weekend was very productive. We cleaned up the garage and I painted the downstairs doors (they were soo gross!) It's amazing what a coat of fresh paint does.
Once I got the rug I started really thinking about this front room. You may notice in the pictures I took the cream chairs away. I had planned on recovering them in a natural linen and adding a skirt. This would have been a good option visually, but the truth is I really want this space to be comfortable and usable. My husband and I sit in here sometimes, but it feels much too formal with just four chairs. I want to be able to come in here and lounge and read and actually use it. So I decided this space needs a sofa of some sort. I don't have anything picked out and who knows when I will get something, but I have decided to sell the chairs.
SO for those of you located in the Charlotte area, I am selling these two cream silk accent chairs:
I'm selling them for $200 for the pair. They retail for $300 each (here is the same chair in a different fabric). Believe it or not they are very comfortable and a great neutral accent chair.
As I mentioned earlier, we cleaned out our garage this weekend and I have some other things available for those of you in Charlotte.
When I got my campaign dresser for my office, this tall dresser came with it. However it was missing the top drawer. I decided to take it anyway thinking I could do something with it. Either cut off the top, or turn the missing drawer section into a shelf. Anyway, it's just been taking up space in my garage so if any of you in Charlotte are handy and want to work on it you can have it for free!
I'm selling our old TV cabinet as seen in this picture:
It's a great storage cabinet and holds a ton. I'm selling it for $50.
Do you remember this red rug from waaaay back when? I'm also selling it for $50.
I'll be putting these items on Craigslist but I thought I'd check with you guys first :)

The rug works so well in that space! I so wish I lived near you, I would scoop those chairs up in a heartbeat!
ReplyDeleteI am considering purchasing the same white Ikea chaise. How do you like it?
ReplyDeleteThe rug does look quite different, but it is still beautiful and looks great in your space! It reminds me of the rug in Amy Meier's old apartment http://pinterest.com/pin/513910394/?utm_source=sendgrid.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=pinterest.com
ReplyDeleteI hate when that happens but it looks great!!

It's always a bummer when things show up juuust a little different then you hoped... but I think you're right. The red in the rug really does tie them in with your wood and it looks great. I love the antique, worn feel. Very beautiful!
