I have complete designers block when it comes to our master bedroom. I know what elements I want and what furniture has to stay (our bed), but as far as the color, fabric, etc... I have no clue! Designing for myself is much harder than designing for clients. As Sarah Richardson says, I need to find a fabric that "speaks" to me and go from there.
In the mean time, here are some bedrooms that I've saved in my inspiration folder the last couple years. Maybe they will re-inspire me!

I had that too with my own master bedroom for the longest... I knew what I liked, but I didn't know how to transfer that to something that I would like for my own room. Then I chose a wall color and other little things started falling in place and before I knew it I had finished it and loved it. Inspiration will strike!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem! It's definitely hard to commit to a design as a designer, because you are constantly made aware of the latest trends and designs. Having access to so many trade resources can be overwhelming at times... p.s. nice inspiration pics!
ReplyDeleteLove them all, but that ottoman in the top pic is calling my name!

Those are indeed some inspiring bedrooms...love the throws layered over the headboards in a couple images. Good luck finding that exact bit of inspiration that will get you running with your room! Janell
ReplyDeleteI love that blanket over the headboard idea, totally changes the look!
ReplyDeletewell all your inspiration has some common elements ... bright whites, muted greens, at least one strong fabric and a graphical element. maybe that can guide you! good luck - we can't wait to see the gold you spin :)
ReplyDeleteThe last picture is my favorite! I love the dramatic yet relaxing feel it offers. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about our bedroom! I've made some changes that helped, but I just can't quite get there. These are great inspiration!
ReplyDeletei say don't push the master bedroom decorating if you feel like you've hit a designer's roadblock! your bedroom should be a retreat so move onto the next project and i bet your ideal design will come to you!! love the inspirational photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration! We have done absolutely nothing to our master bedroom, except paint the walls, in the year we have been in our home. I am saving these pictures for the future!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do with your bedroom... We have a sleigh bed similar to yours and just moved and I'm not feeling very inspired with it at all...
ReplyDeleteIt is ALWAYS easier to make those kind of decisions for someone else! I really love your inspirations. Especially the fabric/throws over the headboards. Good luck! We all know it will be beautiful in the end.
ReplyDeleteSo many great images...it would be hard for me to choose as well!!!! I can completely relate. I have so much trouble making final decisions on our own house also.
ReplyDeleteSuch inspiring pics! I love that F.Shumacher wallpaper- so gorgeous. I also loved the shot with the bed in front of the windows- Im always wanting to change up the layout of our tiny bedroom and never though it would work in front of windows but that pic looks great. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to design a bedroom space that speaks to both a masculine and a feminine aesthetic.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Designing for clients is SO much easier! I am paralyzed when it comes to me, and I am so afraid to commit.

Love each ad every one of these! I agree that picking stuff for my own home is the absolute hardest thing! there are just so many things I love and I can't decide which to choose.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. I'm always rethinking how to do my bedroom. Bedroom pictures seem to always be the most inspirational but, always cause me to be more indecisive! Good luck and great pictures!

I have really been enjoying your blog. I have been designing my new home and have tackled similar issues. Although I love wallpaper, in a bedroom it is a big commitment and after a while it may become tiresome and not in a good sleepy bedroom way. I think incorporating graphic elements in pillows, throws over the headboard or bed, rugs, or fabric chairs is the way to go. By picking a more neutral wall color you can change your bedroom look often, as I know a lot of designers do in their own spaces!!
