Our guest bedroom is a major work in progress, but I'm giving you a "sneak peak" to share with you a GREAT nightstand. It's the trifecta, it has looks + quality + value. What I'm talking about is the Chase nightstand from Cost Plus World Market:
The reasons I love it: you can see the wood grain (it's not vaneer/partical board). The stain is a beautiful mahogany color (it's showing more red in my photographs but in real life it's not red. Neither is my carpet.) It has beautiful sleek, modern lines but isn't too modern to put next to linen (like I did here). It's a great size.. one of my pet peeves is puny nighstands. And the best part....
It's only $99!
$99 at IKEA will buy you this:
While not bad looking, it's fiberboard and lacks in looks and quality.
And here is my "work in progress" room shot:
The Euros are from Isabella (the shop I work at 2x a week). They are linen and I love them! (email me if you want purchase information!). The swatch on the wall will be the new paint color, it's called "Vintage Linen" by BEHR (which is very fitting, since the Euros and bedskirt, not pictured, are linen). The lamp and green sheets are temporary. The glass candle holders are also from World Market.
And if you are curious, plans for this room include...
+ vintage white painted dresser
+ new white sheets
+ Windsor Smith fabric bolster
+ new lamps
+ window treatments (no idea yet)
+ throw or duvet at end of bed
+ awesome headboard, maybe something like the Colette bed by Crate and Barrel:
Or like this headboard from Serena & Lily:
This room is very special to me because both our family lives far away. I want them to have a beautiful retreat when they come to visit us (and someday future grandbabies!!)

Bryn,
ReplyDeleteDo you know where I can find the glass votive candle holders online? I love them!
I cannot wait to be the first'guest' using that room this week!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE where this room is going! I can't wait to see it progress. I just had a custom upholstered headboard made for our master bedroom here in Atlanta for $400 through a local workshop (linen fabric, nailhead trim, I think you'd like it)- let me know if you'd like details :)
ReplyDeleteI love Cost Plus World Market and will have to take a look at these nightstands. We are working on our guest room too and it is still lacking bedside tables. Your guest room looks great so far - love the potential headboards!
ReplyDeleteOh, they look great, and fit just right! Those shams are preeettty sweet.
ReplyDeleteI need to switch over our bedspread...and the white one in your photo is purrr-fect! Where did you buy it? Thanks!
ReplyDeletestunning bryn!! i, of course, love the euros with the ruffles. =) i bet they wouldn't be hard to make ... maybe i'll get brave and try them but i don't need euros right now. great, now i need euros! ha!
ReplyDeletei made a pillow this weekend that i think you'd like ... i blogged about it.

great nightstand ... i always find fabulous little things at world market.
for your quilt/coverlet, did you buy a king for a queen bed? i've never been able to find a queen that hangs that low on a queen bed.
@anon ... linensource.com, overstock.com and homegoods all have a good selection of quality items at good prices.
You are lucky to have a guest room. And I do agree about the side table. What a lovely one that is. Ikea is all very well but white veneer gets a bit urrghh sometimes. And the head board will look great. xoxo
ReplyDeleteIf you have Bassett furniture stores in your part of the country check them out for upholstered headboards. I just got one that I love with linen fabric, nailhead trim for around $600., very well made!

I love those nightstands and plan to get them for the guest room I'm decorating right now! I also found out that, if you sign up on World Market's website, you get a coupon for 10% off your next purchase. Just thought I'd share that, in case someone else was trying to get the same night stands :)
ReplyDeleteBryn, first of all, love the color of your kitchen. AND...I love me some World Market. It is right next to my Kroger, so I always have to make a little side trip! Those end tables really do look expensive!
