You may have seen on my Twitter that I found an amazing piece of furniture at my local Salvation Army...
The hardware is my favorite part. Can you see it? This piece is huge, heavy and in great condition. I picked it up for < $100!
Now I have to decide whether or not I want to keep the original stain or paint it. I think it'd be fabulous in a color similar to this console table:
The room I've planned it will go in (for a client) will have white walls and a black bed. Hmm... decisions! :)

You have great taste! I have a very similar piece that I picked up on Kijiji, I repainted it and used it in my dining room as a sideboard check it out @

Wow! What a great find! I'm liking that paint colour you have chosen also!
ReplyDeleteThat is an AWESOME find! I don't know if the picture is a true representation of the color but I think it looks awesome as it is. You're right about the hardware, that is the best part.
ReplyDeletei have a really similar old piece that I dream about painting white and using as china storage in my future (imaginary) dining room!
ReplyDeleteI love the slate gray... or even an accent color would really pop! Cute piece... I wish I had an eye for picking out items like this, but I always second guess myself.
ReplyDeleteBryn,
ReplyDeleteGreat piece. I love what I can find at thrift stores. Amazing. It's going to look great. Can't wait to see it all come together!
Have a good weekend!

Hm, that's a tough call. It's nice that the piece is so well kept that you have the choice to paint. I just found Holly's Life in the Fun Lane blog and I'm loving what she has done with her Salvation finds- turning them to white with dark floors. But I don't know if that is best for the room you are working on now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find!! Beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar piece in my living room and I just love it. I'm planning to paint it a glossy black. I'm looking for a similar one in white if not I will have to pint white for my dining room. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I really love the grey color you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteP.S I wanted to invite you to participate in my giveaway for a chance to win one of two lovely glass paperweights.
Have a wonderful weekend!
That is beautiful! You have to paint that baby, it will make that amazing hardware stick out. That song "Paint it Black" is playing in my head right now, haha.
ReplyDeleteOh my gawd! That very credenza is in my parent's dining room as I type this! Craziness!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! What a great find. I'm new to your blog (I found you through Makeunder My Life) and I think it's just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'll be visiting often!
I just spotted a cabinet very similar to yours on craigslist for FREE! I was drooling over the idea of dragging it home and giving it a nice coat of paint to bring out the design on the front. Now all I need is a pickup truck to pick it up :)
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous find! i'm partial to the original color
ReplyDeleteI also like the idea of glossy black or maybe lemon yellow?
ReplyDeleteI have a piece very similar from my parents, but no hardware. It is walnut. Forty Five years later, it is still heaven.
ReplyDeleteHey Bryn--I recently came across almost the same piece on Craigslist for a client and remembered this post of yours. Just wondering what color you decided to go w/ and if you have any "after" pics. We were thinking of going w/ a kelly green. . . .
