Updating the Ordinary

I'm working on a really fun playroom and last week I dropped off the curtains. We haven't had them steamed & hung yet, but I thought I'd share a picture with you.

These curtains started with store bought 84" orange grommet panels from World Market. I don't even know why they make 84" curtains.. they are way too short for any type of window. The curtain length we needed was 115" (that's roughly floor to ceiling).

I chose some Duralee yellow patterned fabric to be sewn onto the bottom of the curtain panels and added some blue trim to bring in the wall color. It was pretty inexpensive and it gave a big makeover to the 84" store bought curtains!

Also, if you look closely, you can see we updated the ordinary IKEA daybed with these glass knobs from Anthro:

I also installed these lucite bookshelves for the kids' books.. I definitely recommend them!

  2. Adorable! Love the orange and yellow together. I just bought the same duralee fabric in navy for my baby boy's crib skirt. Love the pattern!

  7. The pattern of the fabric is adorable...if its too short can you cut it up and use it as pillow cases? That'll be a neat idea :)
