Yesterday after running all my work errands I stopped by World Market to purchase the bench I blogged about here. They are currently having a great furniture sale!
While I was there, I saw this brand new sofa and loooved it. After standing there and debating back and forth, I decided to get the sofa instead of the bench! I had a 10% coupon and a gift card from Christmas, so the total was $450.
I couldn't wait to share the pictures with you until this afternoon when the light was better, so here are some iPhone pictures (with bad lighting).
What I loved most about it was the curved back. I knew the back of the sofa was going to be seen before the front, so having a pretty back was important.
I'm not going to lie - the quality of the sofa is comparable to the price. I wouldn't want to use this sofa for watching TV every night, but for a living room space that doesn't get used too often, it's perfect!!
I actually purchased an 8 x 10 jute rug from West Elm for the space, too.. but decided it was too small. I will need to splurge for a 9 x 12 or maybe do no rug at all.
We've almost been in our home for 2 years and it's nice to see this room start to come together! Now all I need are drapes, a coffee table, pillows, lighting.... the list goes on and on :)

Wow! I can't believe you've been there for two year already! I've been following your blog for a long time!
ReplyDeleteI love the sofa - I think it was a good choice. It's pretty timeless. Are you thinking of adding some pattern and color with pillows like you were going to do with the bench?
Can't wait to see more of the evolution of this room!
I just wanted to add that I am hosting a giveaway for a Shabby Apple dress. If you are interested, you should stop by my blog and enter!
We have been in our house for just over two years as well; it is crazy how long it takes for things to come together. We still have a very long list of things to do. You living room looks great and is really coming along.

I saw the sofa at World Mkt too. It is very nice. I would love to see the room with the couch in front of the window and the chairs opposite. Then you would see the pretty pillows that will eventually adorn the couch and the coffee table etc from the front door.
ReplyDeleteThat sofa is beautiful! Love the lines! You'll never get tired of it!
ReplyDeleteI really love this sofa, it looks awesome :)

Love it! What a great find.
ReplyDeleteHow did you decide on the layout? Why didn't you flip the placement of the chairs and couch? This isn't a criticism, I think it looks great. I'm just genuinely curious.
good choice!! Cost plus has so many great furniture options now
ReplyDeleteI've been debating about the layout for a while! The chairs are much too high to be flipped, it visually "blocks" everything. The sofa is nice and low so it allows you to see everything :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough the pictures are deceiving, the sofa + chairs don't fit this way. It's a long skinny space.
ReplyDeletelooking girl chicky. go get your rug and youll be almost done :)
ReplyDeleteBTW i have the 8x10 west elm jute rug and ive had it about 2 years now - I LOVE IT. I believe you were the one who initally inspired to me to go get it, after you salvaged the one from Isabella? Correct?

it's nice. i like the curved back too! maybe no rug and just an awesome coffee table, or two smaller tables instead of one large one.
ReplyDeleteI was just at World Market on my lunch break and saw this couch. It really is a stunner and what a deal! I love that store! If we hadn't gotten a couch already for our formal living room, I think I would have considered this one. Our living room is sort of similar to yours, but we put the couch against the wall since we have no fireplace, and our two accent chairs in front of the window. I might have to do some rearranging!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love when that happens? It looks amazing in the space, it is so fun to see it coming together!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Seems like I always find something I love when I'm not looking! I like the sofa better than the bench for this space. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe sofa looks so great, as does the whole room! I love finding steals at World Market!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new purchase. It's fun to start off the new year with a new project :)
ReplyDeleteLove it, and you're right the curved back is a nice touch since you see it right away. I would definitely get a rug!
ReplyDeleteWhat can you tell me about the light fixture in the last photo? It's so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGreat find. I just ordered a rug from esalerugs for my foyer - can't wait to see how it looks in person. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am really, really encouraged by your commitment to not rush your decorating. One of my biggest fears about eventually buying a home is the stress of wanting everything to be perfect immediately... which a) whose budget allows that? and b) (because of a) leads to poor decision making with cheap "stand in" items being purchase (which wastes money in the long run & makes no one happy!), etc. I can't believe you've been there for two years & are still working on your entry area. It really makes me happy & hopeful that someday I can do that, too! Thanks for the inspiration, in more ways than one. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how the chairs aren't the same fabric as the sofa. lol and your little model is adorable! From Brooklyn with love ~jen
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic!! I can never see enough of your black wing chairs - they are divine!
ReplyDeleteI think the couch is a winner! You are so right that the curved back is what makes it -- those small details mean ALOT when a room is small.
ReplyDeleteI love it! What a good find.
ReplyDeletejbhat
Love it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't World Market so so good (or perhaps so so bad???). It's hard to go in and not want to bring everything home! Great find, I loved the curved back and it looks WAY more expensive than what you paid! Can't wait to see how the room continues to come together :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! Looks so pretty. Can't wait to see it in person in a few months :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! The couch is a great find and I just think those chairs are such great pieces. We have been in our home for a little over 3 years and it really is amazing how much time (and money) it takes to really decorate a home and finish spaces. I really enjoy seeing your process.
ReplyDeleteit looks great. I'm stalking world market right now myself. LOVE the brown colors and worn-ness of your old rug.. donna
ReplyDeleteI love it.....The room is starting to have a moody soulful feel! Had fun looking through your past posts!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great sofa Bryn...the lines are pretty and you can definitely get away with it in a living room.....can't wait to see how you "trick" out the room :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great and the curved back is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI would love to know where you got the lighting fixture in the last photo? Its stunning!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen what the bench was like but my gosh, you've bought a furniture worth an envious glare. :) Your living room is fabulous!
