Yesterday I had a very serendipitous experience and came across the same fabric twice in one day. Sure this could just be called a "trend" but it always makes me go "hmm...".
Yesterday morning while drinking coffee and eating pancakes I was watching an old (but new to me) episode of Sarah's House. It was this living room re-do. I've been a fan of her cane fabric chairs for a while:
Then last night while reading before bed, I came across the same fabric in the March 2010 issue of Country Living:
I had one of those "why didn't I think of that?!" moments - I love the playful idea of using a cane-patterned fabric on a cane back chair. I just reupholstered a cane back chair for Slate... I sort of wish I had done this instead. Oh well! (will share that chair soon).
There is nothing new about this fabric.. it's been used a lot and around for a while. But seeing it twice in one day reminded me how I really like it.
It's called "Garden Lattice" by Waverly and it's less than $20/yard!
This past weekend my husband and I finally finished painting the upstairs hallway. We painted it "White Dove" by Benjamin Moore which is a pretty, soft white. That leaves only three more rooms in our house that needs painting! The upstairs bathroom, the laundry room and the "baby's" room. It's sort of a joke between my husband and I that we call it the baby's room, because there is no baby and we aren't planning for one for a while. But when we do have one, that's where we'll put it. Right now we use it for ironing. haha!
I'm currently working on putting together a picture house tour page for the blog. It will all be "in progress" pictures.. but I thought it'd be fun. Sort of like this.
Happy Monday! (and wow - I just realized it's the last day in Feb. Yikes!)

Love that fabric, and for the price you cannot beat it. I like that even though it's a graphic pattern, it can handle competing pattern (through pillows or window treatments etc) pretty well! I'm starting my home tour tomorrow, one room a day until you've seen it all. So come on over!
ReplyDeleteI've always liked this one as well.
ReplyDeleteoh wow, no I didn't! Was it in the Home Goods close to me?
ReplyDeleteThis is great fabric. Did you see the sofa in HomeGoods with this fabric?

I love that fabric too. Its such a classic pattern I don't think you'd ever get tired of it.
ReplyDeleteA house tour is a fantastic idea, I love seeing other blogger's homes. I stuck mine on a slide show, but this is a much better idea because you can see progress. (On the slide show I'm always afraid folks are going to think my befores are afters and go "ugh")
Can't wait to see your space!

Love that fabric! It looks so classic to me!
ReplyDeleteI adore that Waverly garden lattice fabric-it was one of the first fabrics I feel in love with when I was first decorating our house!
ReplyDeleteLove it! This further encourages me to upholster my arm chair in this fabric. I was worried it might look too busy but now I am in love with the idea!
ReplyDeleteYup I remember! It will look awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's my fabric that I am using in my LR!
ReplyDeleteI just watched that episode of Sarah's House too on my DVR. I loved the final room and the cane chairs. I have one of those in my garage and am waiting on using it on the perfect client!
ReplyDeleteLove Dove White. It's a beautiful soft trim color, too!
