And speaking of clothes & shoes...

I just ordered these awesome boots this morning:

A great deal, too.. they are real suede leather for less than $60. I love the little metal detail.

I got them specifically to wear with wide leg jeans. I was inspired by this image from the gap:

Slowly adding staples to create my "adult" wardrobe. I'll keep you updated :)

  3. I love reading about your evolving "adult wardrobe!" I feel like we're in somewhat similar places. I turned 27 in November and have been relying on hold outs from college for way too long. I'm in too good of a place right now both career-wise and in my personal life to keep dressing like crap. I consider myself a fairly stylish person, but I fall into the cheap clothes trap a lot. I'm actually a little bit addicted to shopping at places like Target, Old Navy, Marshall's, Forever 21, etc., because "OMG A DECENTLY CUTE SHIRT AND ITS ONLY TEN BUCKS!" Of course, that "decently cute shirt" never gets more than 1 or 2 wears before I realize that it wasn't worth even the $10 I paid for it. The post you wrote earlier today about quality over quantity along with the links to Kendi's blog really struck a cord with me. For too long I have tried to stretch my clothing budget to the limit by shopping for cheap clothes, reasoning that I can't afford to invest in quality pieces because my wardrobe sucks and I need a variety of new things to make it unsucky. Needless to say, while there are a few bargain pieces that have paid off, looking back I see that I've ended up spending a ton of money on shitty clothes and my wardrobe is none the better for it despite the fact that I have more stuff. I have a few long-term goals for 2011 (I hate using the phrase "resolutions") and you just inspired me to add "improve adult wardrobe" to my list. I'm definitely following a lot of Kendi's tips and overall just focusing on quality over quantity. Thank you!!!!! I am excited to follow along with you and see what you add to your collection.

  9. Did you order a 1/2 size smaller like all the reviews mentioned? I'm thinking of getting them based on your post, but I think I'll order a smaller size.

Thanks for posting. I love it when other people do the shopping for me. I bought these boots for $62 - http://www.zappos.com/rockport-harmony-heights and they turned out to be pretty nice and comfy.

Guess what--I have the same tall boots you chose and I love them! They are so comfortable and look amazing. Great minds think alike. ;-)

  11. I normally wear anywhere from an 8 to an 8.5, so I went ahead and ordered the 8. I figure it will be fine because I'll be wearing socks :)
