For The House : Fixed Roman Shades

This 'For The House' installment isn't something that I'll buy, it's something I'll make.

First let me say that even though the majority of my favorite blogs are about interior design, a couple of them aren't. Darby is one of them. Her family is just so imperfectly perfect and it's just like what I hope to have someday. She is a super mom!

Anyway, back to "For The House". Darby made these gorgeous fixed Roman shades for her bathroom:

And I looove them. I'm planning on making one (or a couple?) for our house.

  4. Oh, these are THE best solution for window treatments...ones that you know you'll never need to lower! Much easy (and less expensive!) to make.
    Beautiful...

  6. I laughed when I read this because I'm using her tutorial in the next few weeks to try and make a shade for my kitchen. Let us know how it goes! Given that I have no idea how to use a sewing machine, it should be interesting :)

  7. You can do it, Bryn. One tip, put marks on the back up 8" from the hem and then every 6" to mark your folds. That will give you a hem sticking out and nice even folds.

  8. Adding this to my never-ending list. If only I didn't have to work...
