For The House : Fixed Roman Shades

This 'For The House' installment isn't something that I'll buy, it's something I'll make.

First let me say that even though the majority of my favorite blogs are about interior design, a couple of them aren't. Darby is one of them. Her family is just so imperfectly perfect and it's just like what I hope to have someday. She is a super mom!

Anyway, back to "For The House". Darby made these gorgeous fixed Roman shades for her bathroom:

And I looove them. I'm planning on making one (or a couple?) for our house.

For The House : Kitchen Pendants

what: (2) Berwick Dome Pendant Lights
where: Kitchen; one above the kitchen table, one above the island
why: Well, I was going to go with these IKEA pendants, but decided against them. They were too small and too nautical for the space. The pendants I chose are inexpensive and neutral enough to go with any style. (mid century, traditional, vintage, preppy... all of which will end up in our home).
how much: $41 each

For The House : Shower Curtain

what: Target Borders Shower Curtain
where: master bathroom
why: A nice simple, no frills shower curtain at a decent price. Would look great for my master bathroom inspiration.
how much: $29

For The House : Feathergrain Bins

what: The Container Store Feathergrain Bins
where: my home office
why: These are beautiful. And functional. I plan on using them to store paint fan decks; since they don't have lids the decks will be easily accessible.
how much: $12.99 for small, $21.99 for medium, $29.99 for large (I'll probably get small to fit on an IKEA Billy bookshelf).

For The House : Dash & Albert Rug

What do you think of a new little "series" on the blog. I'll do short little posts, like this one, where I feature a product I plan on getting/want for the new house. Is this something you'd like to see? (You can always find my current wish list in my wists sidebar of the blog, too.)

what: Dash & Albert Indoor/Outdoor rug
where: kitchen, underneath breakfast table
why: I love the mix of black + brown. It will also look great with my planned kitchen color - Mercer by Ralph Lauren which is a grayish brown. Plus it's indoor/outdoor so it can be hosed when dirty!
how much: $134 for 4x6
