What if...

Don't get me wrong, Matt and I love Orange County, but sometimes it's fun to think "What if"?

Well I thought I'd share my "What if?" with you - If we were to move somewhere else, there is really only one place I would consider going. I've never actually been to this place, but it seems just..... perfect: Serenbe, Georgia. It's a rural development near Atlanta that concentrates on "creating a real community, where people are drawn together over gardening, over cooking, over books, over art, over ideas, and yes, even over back fences".

Sounds perfect, eh? I'm sure they candy-coat it on the website, but regardless I've always wanted to live in Georgia (how cute are the accents?), and the homes in this little town are just to die for.

  1. DH and I are moving to GA in 2 years when he finishes law school. We have been looking at this place. It's so cute isn't it?

  2. It reminds me of a recent community development near where I live (just outside of St. Louis, MO) called New Town. www.newtownatstcharles.com

  3. Oh...I LOVE this little sleepy community. Did you know you can actually live and work on one of the farms for a living? They give you a farm with tons of acerage and that is your job...growing food for the community. So serene sounding! We already live in GA, but I have also got my eye on this community! Maybe someday we will be neighbors!

  4. We lived in a few different small towns in North Carolina, and while they were beautiful and quiet, I still like being close to a major city. Having moved from Chicago to Asheville NC, I experienced major culture shock.

  5. OMG! A friend of mine (back home in Savannah) and her hubby were just telling DH & I about this development over the weekend!!! They're thinking about moving there since her hubby is possibly getting relo'd nearby for his job. It truly is a small world!

  8. Hi Bryn! I found your blog through This Young House and I've really enjoyed checking back each day for your new posts. I went to school in Atlanta and live in SC, but hadn't heard of this community; can't wait to check it out. I went to CA for the first time last fall (drove down to San Francisco on I-5 from Oregon) and it seemed like paradise! With the laid back people, all the farmer's markets, beautiful scenery. I've lived in SC my whole life and while it would definitely be hard to leave (I live in Abbeville which is a precious little town where the historic town square is paved in brick and my husband and I got to play Auntie Em and Uncle Henry in the Abbeville Opera House's production of the Wizard of Oz...we are only in our 20s but they had to use the people they had!), but I thought all those Californians were so lucky to be living there and I could definitely see us having a great life there. Grass is always greener, right :)
