153 days until the 1 year

Matt and I have been married 212 days! Since we only have 153 days left until our one year anniversary, it's getting to be crunch time to figure out our plans for the big 1 year. Okay, so maybe it's a little early BUT we know we want to travel, and airplane tickets aren't getting any cheaper with the rising gas prices.

We were thinking of doing a cruise, but that's a little to predictable (although it's very cost effective and relaxing).

I stumbled upon Puerto Vallarta's Bed & Breakfast section of tripadvisor.com and found some great inspiring vacation spots.

Regardless whether or not we end up going to one of these places, I wanted to share them because I think it would be such an amazing and inexpensive way to experience the culture of the Mexican Riviera:

Casa Amorita is my top choice. This bed and breakfast is small and run by an American. There are only 5 rooms, and the location is ideal. It's in the center of town but is only a short walk to the beach.

The view from the B&B

Here is a review, which echos almost all the reviews on Trip Advisor: Just completed our third stay at Rita's and it was as good as ever which says a lot. Her breakfasts are to die for and her knowledge of the area always guides us in navigating around town. Good restaurants are a specialty of hers and we always take advantage of her insights in selecting places to dine. All in all we just can't say enough good about her B&B and would recommend it to anyone. We love the location and plan to return.

Hacienda Alemana is another contender. Alemana is a little more modern, but still located close to the beach. There aren't many photos on trip advisor and most of the sites I find on it are not in English, but from the few pictures there are, it looks great!

Here is a review: Our 5-day stay at the Alemana was delightful! Our nicely decorated modern room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our bottle of champagne left for us in the fridge located below the big flat-screen TV!!! Mike, the friendly owner made us feel very welcome - our first night there he offered us a drink "on the house"! Every morning it was such a wonderful treat to walk a short distance to the beach where we had a delicious breakfast. The staff was always very helpful and caring. My husband and I highly recommended the Hacienda - we'll be back!

Hopefully we can make a decision soon so we can start booking!

  1. I haven't been to Puerta Vallarta in more than a decade but when I went it was a fabulous trip! Totally different vibe than the east coast of Mexico. Its a beautiful town.

  2. Bryn, my rents just got back from Nueva Vallarta and loved it. They stayed at Neuva Vallarta Palace, they said it was phenominal and it's all inclusive.

  3. We just returned from Nueva Vallarta - it is so beautiful there. I have also stayed in Puerto Vallarta before and loved that as well:) If you end up going - you must, must eat at Le Kliff - the food is great (mostly seafood) and so romantic – it would be a perfect place to celebrate your 1 year anniversary!
