I've never purchased anything from Zara - does anyone know what their quality is like? The prices aren't bad at all.
I especially love their shirts. Usually you'll find me in a pretty top with a pair of jeans and flats.

I'd say Zara's quality is similar to H&M or Forever 21.
ReplyDeleteI shop for most of my clothes at Zara in NYC - They're quality is ok, some things are hit-and-miss. I have a denim pencil skirt that I wore forever, but if you turn it inside out, it looks cheap. I have some light cotton cardigans I've been wearing for years. Their t-shirts last a million times longer than J Crews. Other items I'll wear a season, then give up because they're just cheap trendy things I get tired of. I have a wool winter coat from 5 years ago that still looks amazing, except the lining is shredded.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is their sizing is sometimes inconsistent. I consider myself a "medium" size 8-ish, but some shirts that are supposed to have an "oversized" look are way too gigantic in a medium size. In other areas, I've tried on size 10 pencil skirts that have been WAYYY too tight. I will go to the store, pick out 10 items, and maybe 3-4 look awesome and fit right.
I'm assuming you don't have a Zara location nearby - but I've ordered things online and returned them no problem. I think for their prices, its worth experimenting!
One other note - I find most of their footwear really uncomfortable! But sometimes I've picked up a pair of shoes that have worked out really well. Like I said, it's hit-and-miss, good luck!
I used to shop at Zara some when we lived in Philadelphia and they had a store there. The only challenge I found was that sometimes the European sizing was a bit harder to fit. I feel like the quality is a bit better than Forever 21/H&M, but I haven't seen their stuff in a while...
ReplyDeleteZara is great, but you really need to buy their stuff in person. Sizes run all over the place.
ReplyDeleteI have loved everything I have bought from Zara. It's one of my immediate go-to's when we are in a city that has one!
ReplyDeleteI loved the things I bought from zara. The sizing for me seemed right on though (compared to my J.Crew sizes), but I never tried the pants only tops and skirts. I like it WAY more than forever 21.
ReplyDeleteI will chime in and agree that the sizing is SO unpredictable! I am a pretty steady size 10 across the board. I would put on a size L shirt that was huge, and then the XL blazers were tight? I think their quality is better than H&M/F21, but shop in-store or be prepared to make some returns.
ReplyDeleteI really love Zara. Pretty good quality. Oddly enough, my favorite thing from there are their camisoles. They're thick materials and hold up super well. They have them in all sorts of colors, and they're typically only $10. Love.
ReplyDeleteZara's quality is pretty good, although I've had a shirt get a hole from there before but it was easily fixed. Some of their prices are a little high for the type of quality (polyester vs. silk) but overall, their stuff is more European so it's refreshing and different for sure.
ReplyDeleteHi! Never commented before, but enjoy your blog and have a definite opinion on Zara! They are SPOT on in the trend department, and their stuff looks great, really. Quality wise, they really run the gamut (especially given pricing). I find the shirts/tops/blouses to be poor quality for the price. Where I think they totally shine is in the blazer and shoe (euro sizes) department!!! Also agree on their cami's - great price and good thick material. Hope this helps! I still find myself buying things I know aren't of the BEST quality (shameful...) because the stuff just looks gooooood :)
ReplyDeleteI have purchased a number of Zara items online and for the most part I love them. The styles are trendy yet classic and some of the fabrications look much more luxurious than they actually are. The sizing can be inconsistent. They have free shipping and return and use FEDEX ground, but the plastic packaging always tears and if you repackage FEDEX will charge you, so beware of that. The colors are so rich and fabulous, they really are a step up from F21 and H & M.
ReplyDeleteI've found that the sizing is very inconsistent. Zara seems to be for people who want the most current trend and don't want to pay a gazillion dollars for it. Which is awesome but what you sacrifice is quality. It's disposable clothing.
ReplyDeleteZara's quality and sizing is a bit all over the place. They can have some really nice things, and some cheaper things. I particularly like Zara Basic and have had some of their cardigans for going on four years. I wear them constantly and they still look great. But I do think you'd need to shop there in person.
ReplyDeleteThe fashion crowd in NYC is *always* buzzing about Zara and i've been shopping them for years overseas! Now that they have online retail, I've bought two pairs of shoes that for the price are amazing. I think if it's good enough to mix and match with Balenciaga it's good enough for me :)
ReplyDeleteMost of the quality I find is a little better than HM and lately, Banana Republic (who has gone WAY down in my book) and I find that their sizing is completely bogus. That said, I still love it for fun pieces that don't cost a fortune and most are work approp!
ReplyDeleteI heart me some Zara too. I think the quality is quite good, better than H&M for most things. Plus their pieces are so interesting!
ReplyDeleteI love Zara. I have loved anything I have ever bought there and for the most part, I have always been pleased with the quality. Just go in the store and you'll be able to distinguish the items that are not as well made...and make sure to always try on..the sizes really are unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteFellow Charlottean here- I love Zara! The sizing can be quite unpredictable, but I've found that the tops fit true to size, but blazers and coats run 1-2 sizes small. I ordered a trench last year that was fantastic quality. Zara Basic is great too- leggings, tanks, cardigans, etc. I'd stay away from the TRF line...it seems a little cheap than some of the more professional clothes.
ReplyDeleteI definitely disagree with the comment about the quality being comparable to Forever 21..no way. it's much better. I love Zara.
ReplyDeleteI think their clothes are pretty, but it always looks like you have to be practically flat chested to make their tops work.
ReplyDeleteThe clothes are very cute and I have a few things from there, BUT the quality is not good at all. The tees are so thin that if you're not careful how you wash them or if you snag them on something, you'll have a tear or hole in it. The skinny jeans, also great to wear. Once. Then the button fell off and I don't sew, so the button is still not back where it belongs. Only if they work on quality would I shop there again. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteKate Middleton is always wearing stuff from Zara!
ReplyDeleteThe quality is definitely better than H&M. Some of my coworkers wear their shoes and say they're really comfortable (but I haven't tried them). I think it's definitely worth a look.
ReplyDeleteLove Zara and Mango, used to shop there a lot when I lived in England, it's very you, I can see why you like that style :)
ReplyDeleteI love ZARA. high stile for not so high a price. They quality is pretty decent too. Although their t's always seem to shrink when I put them in the washer. But their blouses, shorts, and dresses have all held up pretty nicely. They have a great shoe selection too!
ReplyDeleteI purchase most of my blazers and blouse from Zara, i have to disagree with Devin about their quality...their quality is quite nice and they have different sections...Zara Basic, Zara Women ....Zara Women's quality is better than Basic and a lot more expensive too but all of my clothes are still in excellent condition and well worth what I paid for :) Hope it helps!
ReplyDeletei have nothing bad to say about ZARA yet - its one of my fave to go shops for clothing!;)
ReplyDeleteZara's quality is hit or miss. The TRF line has a cheaper feel than the Zara Woman or Basic lines. I love their shoes but my wide feet don't fit into them usually!
ReplyDeleteSince moving to Spain last year, Zara has become my favorite store - love it! Great choice for on-trend clothes that don't cost a fortune, and while the quality isn't top, it's definitely better than other similar stores. And here in Spain, there's one in every mall!
