This morning I am blogging from our new Crate & Barrel Lounge sofa :) I love it!! It's so deep, it's like a bed (which is exactly what I wanted!) My husband is still on the fence about it, but he's usually reluctant about change, so we'll see!
BEFORE:
"AFTER" (not really an after, but here are some bad iPhone pictures of the new sofa!):
As you can see, I've added the vintage chrome chairs to the space. They are currently orange vinyl and in bad shape, and I will be recovering them in a gray linen blend fabric (you can see the swatch hanging on the chair).
I like this floor plan so much better than the sofa + chaise combo lined up on the wall. I'm sooooooooo happy that's finally gone! YAY!
And the chrome chairs have actually been pretty useful.. my parents are in town visiting, and this layout was working well for visiting and chatting. A lot less awkward than someone sitting on the end of the chaise.
I also LOVE my new berry velvet pillows from Woody Liana. I had them made in a 24"x24" size so they'd be to scale with the new LARGE sofa. And my previous Nympheus pillow (also from her) fits in perfectly.
I know, I'm cringing a bit with Charlotte on the new sofa, but what can I say, we let our animals on our furniture... they are our babies.
On a side note, I've also ordered some 26" round tables to flank the sofa, which will be in scale with the large sofa. Those won't be coming until Aug.
All these pictures are terrible quality, sorry! I'll definitely take some better ones once these orange chairs get recovered!

Love the new sofa Bryn! I also love the chrome chairs. I know you are recovering them, but the pop of color is great. Looking good!
ReplyDeleteNew sofa really grounds the space. Can't wait to see all of your final updates!
ReplyDeleteLove the cozy feel in the room and the sofa and chairs both look comfy! Glad you put it all together…I'm sure it is much easier than sitting on the end of the chaise! I hate it when I'm in a room and the seating is a bit awkward! Love the pillows too!
ReplyDeleteYou should consider recovering the chairs in the same orange. The pop of color looks awesome.
ReplyDeletei agree with dania -- the orange in the chair adds that pop, unless you're going for a whole different color palette! but otherwise i love the new set up!
ReplyDeleteLove the new sofa & the new layout. I'm in love with those chairs too.
ReplyDeleteI knew I would get votes for the orange chairs :) I do think they look good, but I'd like the room to be a bit more neutral for my personal taste.
ReplyDeleteIt looks really nice! I also LOVE those chairs.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks AMAZING! We're looking at the lounge sofa too.. it's so insanely comfy isn't it?! x
ReplyDeleteLOVEly!
ReplyDeleteBryn, I love the sofa. The layout is fabulous. The chairs are pure classic. You can achieve color with accessories. Small pops of orange, now and when orange goes "out"....add what's new and fresh.
ReplyDeleteLooks great!!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's gorgeous! I love the color and it looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed watching this room progress...it is so fun and textural now! Very lovely :) You'll have to let us know if you continue to enjoy the sofa...I just so happen to be in the market for a new one and love hearing product reviews :)
ReplyDeleteLove the lounge sofa! I considered buying this a couple of years ago but ended up buying similar one from jcpenney(not available anymore). It is very deep and comfortable! Love the orange chrome chairs as well.
ReplyDeleteI gotta tell you--the orange chairs look really good in the photo. I'm sure they need to be cleaned up, but I would vote for some color on those two....
ReplyDeleteWonderful design. The new space plan seems like it make a wonderful conversation pit and turns the fireplace into the focal wall!! Great Job!
ReplyDeleteLove Love Love the new layout! Looks cozy. And I kind of the love the orange too!
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog. I love your home. Just curious, what tables did you order for this room? I am looking for round tables for my family room too.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabric color did you go with on new sofa? It looks soooo comfy!
ReplyDeleteHi Bryn, I got the same sofa in October, with a storage ottoman and I love it! It came with 4 extra throw pillows--did yours?
ReplyDeleteThings are looking really good! Love the green ottoman its such a nice piece of furniture! The new sofa is looking banging in the room. Great job ;)
ReplyDeleteI kind of love the orange!
ReplyDeletelove the sofa & those orange chairs - the chrome and the shape! I'm a fan of orange but they'll look great with that gray too.
ReplyDeleteI love the new sofa! I'm all for a big comfy couch. My husband likes clean lines and low couches, a la Mad Men but I think he'd like this one. I'm also a big fan of all of your work, but I gotta say, those chrome chairs remind me too much of waiting room chairs. Dig the new layout though!
ReplyDeletelove the couch! it looks beautiful in that room and i love that you're adding pieces that match the scale :)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally swooning. That is my absolute favorite sofa and I just told my husband that when we move in the next few years, I'm investing in the lounge sofa. What color is yours? Its a fabulous color.
ReplyDeleteGetting a new piece of furniture makes the day feel like Christmas, doesn't it? Like you, I am very sensitive to my decor environment, and when something new comes in that is 'right', it is such a joy!

Yay looks great! Can't wait to see the recovered chairs!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, double love your new layout and sofa! Looks awesome Bryn!
ReplyDeleteLove the new couch. Random question prompted by your doggie on the couch. With a dog and a cat, how do you combat pet fur? We have one of each too and I feel like I am constantly vacuuming and lint rolling and whatever else I can do, but it's a losing battle. I never see any in your pictures, so I thought maybe you'd have a tip or two.
ReplyDeleteLove your neutral backdrop too! Do you mind sharing your paint color for the walls in there?! Thanks so much :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! A new sofa IS A BIG DEAL! If you're like me, it doesn't happen often. I think I've bought 3 new sofas in my lifetime ( yes, Im your moms age ) so I know how excited you are. It is a great choice.. Love those vintage chairs.. It is a process, isn't it? enjoy!

How exciting and it looks fabulous!! Loving the hide too ~
ReplyDeleteI love this sofa and want one like this, but am afraid that our two Labs will destroy this material. We have a fabric (as opposed to leather) couch now and it looks terrible. Please update us and let us know how the fabric holds up with the pets!
ReplyDeleteLove the room.
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see the retro orange chairs reupholstered in grey.
Questions:
1) can you tell me who the manufacturer is of the blue gourd lamp or where you purchased it?
2)I love the burgundy velvet pillows with linen back that woodyliana made, I would have never thought about using those in the summer. I have some from PB a few years ago, time to bring them out.

Hi, Bryn! Just wanted to say this looks great! I have been contemplating purchasing this sofa in the same color/fabric for our living room, but hesitated at the "clunkiness" of it. I really like how you've paired the petite chairs with the couch. The metal in the chairs helps add that balance of texture, too. Love it! I will be kindly stealing this concept for my own living room. Keep up the beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI am also a fan of sofas which can be a day bed! its so fun to watch your favorite show while relaxing in a big sofa! It is even better if you share it with your loved ones!
