Yesterday I was in West Elm getting some accessories for a client, and I saw this coffee table marked down to $299 (from $499). I also had some unused design dollars (West Elm points from their CC), so the table was a STEAL!
I've been lusting over this coffee table for a really long time, and I'm so excited it's now in our living room :)
It's taking a very long time for me to "decorate" our home, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I find pieces that I LOVE and bring them in, so each space is so special to me!
Just yesterday I was going through my old pictures (trying to find a "before" picture of our master bath.. I never took one. Bummer!). I came across this picture, taken August 24, 2010:
I took these pictures last weekend (they were before the coffee table, but from this angle you cannot see it):
When I get a free moment, usually on Sundays, I like to sit in this room and read magazines.
Still needed:
- Lamp for the entry
- Curtains (white, euro pleated)
- Rug (jute)
But no immediate plans for those items above for right now... the family room and bathrooms need my attention!

I love that coffee table. I wish I had a West Elm store near me to find a deal like that!
ReplyDeleteBryn I love your home. The new coffee table is perfect. West Elm is a wonderful place to find great pieces that have a unique style. The dark painted doors,(I guess they are black ) are fabulous! And your chairs....awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really like where your room is heading! Its going to to be chic! It fits so well in our post about decorating with black (www.eieihome.com/blog/how-to-decorate-with-black.html). Love those chairs in the back! It's 4th of july tomorrow, do you have any decorating plans?
ReplyDeleteSlow and steady wins the race! I love that you are taking your time - the room looks amazing. And I love that you painted your french doors black!
ReplyDeletewhy would you not swap the placement of your chairs and sofa? makes your room look closed off the way that it is now. plus, the sofa would anchor your art so well. just a thought.
ReplyDeleteMeg, I have tried it the other way, it actually feels even more closed off with the really tall chairs backing up to you. Plus it's a lot of black all right together (two black chairs + black console). But now that I have the coffee table, I may try the other way again!
ReplyDeleteThat lamp from the 2010, oh that lamp.
ReplyDeleteThe coffee table looks great - the room is coming together
ReplyDeletereally nicely.
Love how you are keeping it real! The room is coming together and by living in it you learn what really will work.

Looks great! I've enjoyed seeing the progress of this room and can't wait to see how it all finished up!
ReplyDeleteLove the table!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about the couch under the window and the chairs either floating in front of the french doors facing the couch/window or on each end of the coffee table facing each other?
ReplyDeleteI love this table! And the room is starting to look like such a nice, quiet getaway. It makes me wish for a formal living room, a place to get away from the blasted television!!
ReplyDeleteI love the WE table....and I think it is great that you are taking your time to find pieces that you really want in the room. It is better than spending money on something that you will replace down the road :)
ReplyDeleteBryn...I read another comment about exchanging the sofa and chairs. I actually designed a room like this only there was a FP where the chairs are so that was the only way the sofa could go. There are some pictures on my portfolio [The Bishop House}, and you can see that we added a small bench up against the back of the sofa. I think you could also do that eventually.
ReplyDeleteI love the WE coffee table, a beauty! BUT even more, I love that ocean painting! Who is the artist?
ReplyDeleteThe room looks amazing. You may have already mentioned this, but where did you get that artwork? I really love it.
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for a marble-topped ... anything. Love our marble countertops in our kitchen, have plans to install marble counters in our master bath, and have been stalking a Saarinen-esque little marble side table for our living room.
ReplyDeleteI love this table. I wish they still sold it! Have you seen anything similar recently?
