Reupholstery Classics

I looooooooooove reupholstering stuff. Did you know this? Oh, I know you did :) Our house is a graveyard of things I need to get reupholstered. To be exact.. 6 dining room chairs, 2 living room chairs, 1 settee in my office and 1 settee in our bedroom. Yikes! I'm saving my money up and it will go straight to my upholsterer.

Until I can send my pieces off to my guy, I get my reupholstery fix on Design*Sponge every Thursday where they feature before & afters. Here are some of my all time favorites:

Thanks D*S!

  1. Wow - what a difference that makes! I love watching Sarah's House and seeing which pieces of furniture she'll pick to reupholster and always love the fabric she chooses!

  2. Great post Bryn! I have a thing for these before + afters as well. Loving the gray velvet settee and the floral chair. Gorgeous!

  3. Amazing...I'd visit my upholsterer every week if I could. The family business has been around forever and is the place my grandmother used to take her stuff, some of which I have with their labels still attached. Love a good family business that has staying power.

And that last chair and the Louis XV settee...simple amazing.

  4. Wow. Those are all amazing! I especially love the second chair and the couch below it. And of course the super plush chair. I'd take them all!!! I wish I knew a good upholsterer in my area. Know of anyone in the DC area I could use?

  5. Wow...you can really do anything your imagination can create with reupholstering, huh? (that's a funny word). Thanks for sharing. They are truly some remarkable transformations.

  8. I feel your pain about having an inordinate amount of furniture waiting to be reupholstered. We currently have 4 dining chairs, 2 cane back club chairs and 2 more occasional chairs sitting in our formal living room waiting to be gussied up.

I love the french sofa, the gray chair (a cool alternative to the anthropologie astrid chair), and the last floral wingback.

  9. So pretty!! I've often thought about taking an upholster class at my local fabric store, this make me want to even more. The largest upholster diy project I've done is a Queen Anne chair - turned out great, but the back fo the chair was SO much work :)

  12. I , too, am a collecter for reupholstery! I have 6 patio chairs I need to have new cushions made for as well as a living room chair. I've also been on the hunt for two footstools to reupholster in La Fiorentina that I found on ebay - I'm saving it for the perfect ones! The bad thing is that we live in a 2 bedroom condo - and my husband is definitely not thrilled every time I come home with a piece of furniture for us to get reupholstered someday when we've saved up for it!
