Wallpaper on the Ceiling

Lately I've emailed this picture from Lonny Mag to two different people to show them how great wallpaper on the ceiling is:

Here is another, more subtle, example from Canadian House & Home:

This guest room is one of my all time favorites bedrooms. Particularly because of the other side of the room:

On the ceiling is a great way to add wallpaper without overdoing it. Perhaps it's the new accent wall?

And a side note, if you love the bedding in the first Lonny picture, then you'll love this deal I found on Overstock yesterday:

420 thread count duvet set. $36. Really great reviews. I purchased the White/Willow for our master bedroom. Can't wait to get it!

  1. I love that idea!! I would have never thought about doing that...but it's amazing! However; if I presenter the idea to my husband, he'd probably think I was crazy and veto the idea (Because he'd be stuck putting up the wallpaper). If you attempt this sometime, let us know and show a tutorial!

  4. This makes me smile. When we were house hunting 3 years ago we looked at a house that had wallpaper on the ceiling in EVERY room. But it wasn't this chic...think early 90's. I wasn't willing to bite that bullet!

  5. Oh my gosh, PLEASE review the duvet cover on your blog when you get it. I have been looking for a simple and inexpensive white duvet (with maybe an accent) to go in our bedroom, which has the most gorgeous slate blue on the walls. The only problem with inexpensive is that the fabric is always scratchy and cheap. I'm dying to know what you think of it!

  6. So pretty - if we didn't have 20ft ceilings I would consider it! LOL

PS. Any recommendations for organic bed linens?? Thanks!

  7. I really like the House & Home one, but how the heck are you gonna get it up there? Putting wallpaper on walls is tricky enough, I don't want to imagine how much work it is to put it on a ceiling :D

  8. Would you post a pic of the duvet and shams unfolded when you get the set? I'm very curious about it. Hope you like it. : )

  9. Hi Bryn, I checked out the duvet also. What color would you call the willow? I was thinking it was kind of khaki but it sort of looks green too...what color were you going for?

  13. I think wallpaper on the ceiling can have a great effect. While the first photo might be a bit bold for me, I love the second -- subtle but there. :) Lovely blog you have.

  14. Hope you love the duvet - I just ordered one in the white/rose! Never know when Overstock will sell out and we've been looking for an affordable solution for our bedroom FOREVER.

  15. Glad everyone loves our wallpapered ceiling! Feel free to visit us at www.houseandhome.com to see more images from our magazine.

As well, if wallpapering the ceiling sounds too difficult, you could always get a similar look using stencils!
