Now that everything is official and the house is ours, I thought I'd show you the pictures. These pictures are from the listing with the seller's things.
My new office!
As you can see, I have a lot of work to do. And on a small budget.
Before we move in, we are having the popcorn ceilings removed and new carpet installed. I think these two things will make a world of difference. Since we are having these two things done in an empty house, it's a lot less expensive since nothing has to be moved. (And the popcorn ceiling guys don't need to cover the old carpet).
Then I'll go through painting room by room, including mouldings. (NOT looking forward to this!) I will also replace the hardware in the house (starting with the kitchen).
Eventually, I want to lay tile (myself) in the bathrooms, something I've never done. But thank god for You Tube videos!
And someday, probably years from now, I'd like to refinish the hardwoods and bring them into the kitchen, and add granite to the countertops.
So that's it! You'll know what I'll be doing in my spare time for the next year or so :) But at least it will make for some good blog content!
ps - Today's my birthday 26th birthday. What did I get for my birthday? This house! haha

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYN!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I love that the before pictures are from the old owners... it will make for good ohhhing and ahhhing on the before and afters. I am still sad I never took pictures before we moved into this house (although I was 8 months pregnant at the time) - and there were NO pictures on the real estate listing. Who does that? That's probably how we snagged the house for such a good deal!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and congratulations!!! What a beautiful house too. I am excited to see your changes moving forward and totally feel you on the prioritization of said changes!
ReplyDelete"as you can see we have a lot to do" What an insult you have made to the former owners of the house. They no doubt put a lot of work into preparing their house for listing and you condemn their efforts in one sentence. Shame on you for being so insensitive to the feelings of others.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, happy birthday! And secondly, ::thonk:: that house is GORGEOUS!!! AMAZING curb appeal!! Way jealous over here! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the structure! Can't wait to see what you do with it! :)

Happy Birthday! What a great house. Can't wait to see how you put your touch on it. I'm kinda diggin' the wallpaper in the bathroom (7th pic). How does it look in person?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful house! I can't wait to see what you are all going to do with it. We painted the whole house and replaced the livingroom/diningroom flooring in our house before we moved in and it made a world of difference. Oh, and Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I'll be following you into 26 in a few months! The front of your house is absolutely adorable! I love it! I cannot wait to see all you do to it!
ReplyDeletehappy birthday and congrats on the house..take your time with the baby..,a lot more difficult to redo a house with a baby in tow;;;; enjoy this time with your husband and your new house..ok so how are they doing the popcorn ceilings..scraping or what..i wonder if this could be done DIY style... we are looking at a very similar house..it just needs paint and ceilings scraped..tile in bathrooms and later better kitchen floors and counters..but iam like you, if i can just get the house and paint it i can be happy for years..is that really true? ha! GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!
ReplyDeletecongratulations on the new house, but it is a little tacky to post pics with all of the previous owners' things when it was still their home. seems like you could have taken your own "befores" once the furniture was moved out.
ReplyDeleteI cannot WAIT to see what you do with this beautiful home!! I know you're going to make it into a masterpiece!
ReplyDeletehappy belated b-day! mine is tomorrow...aren't may birthdays the best?! ;)
