First order of business

We closed!!

And this is the first thing I did...

Goodbye faux-finish 90's wallpaper! (This is our laundry room and, if you come in through the garage, the first thing you see.)

What color should I paint it?? I'm thinking something fun. Maybe stripes? Or maybe just neutral. Hmm. So many options!

  2. I think a fun color would be good but one that still flows with the color palette you have planned for the rest of the house. Sometimes it's kind of surprising when all the rest of the house is neutral and calming then all of the sudden you go into one room and its bright.

  5. You know what the best thing is? You can try stripes. If you don't like them, you can repaint in a bright color. If you don't like that, you can paint it neutral. Or stencil (tastefully, obv - no early 90s ivy or anything). Or put up *nice* wallpaper. You can do whatever you want because it's YOURS.
    Congrats on the closing!

  14. Congratulations! Have so much fun making it into YOUR home.

I'm thinking yellow & white stripes would be a cheery addition to my laundry room. Very bold for my neutral house, but I think it would make me smile.

  26. YAAAAY! Congrats.

I vote for stripes. They would look fantastic when finished, but tedious to do. Good luck on your first project. I'm so looking forward to following along.

  32. Congratulations on the house. I actually just started reading your blog a few weeks ago, looking for some design inspiration. So much fun! I think beadboard looks good in laundry room/ entryways. Also, maybe a beautiful little chandelier.
