One thing I always have to remind myself of, especially now as a decorator, is to "never say never".
See, I thought I would never do a red accent wall. I thought they were very first-apartment and 2003 HGTV. But then I walked into one of my new client's homes and my inner decorator keep screaming to me "red accent wall, red accent wall". I'm glad I went with my heart (and they went along with me).

The clean lines of the fireplace is really the reason this accent wall works. I love the thin, white moulding. I want to replace the previous mantel with this long IKEA shelf to mimic the moulding:
The red is called "Dozen Roses" by BEHR. Again, huge fan of the primer +paint in one... it made painting this red wall a breeze - just two coats!

I like it. I swore I would never do red after our first apartment!! I still haven't, but you never know!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Behr's Paint and Primer in one! We too had a red accent wall in one of our apartments. It's funny how I said "never again" but you are right. Never say never. I also used to say "No wallpaper ever again" but now it's all the rage.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to slowly weed the red out of my house, but sometimes it just works! Looks very modern w/ this fireplace.
ReplyDeleteLooks great!! Love the red even if it is an accent wall ::gasp:: Can't wait to see the rest of the room.
ReplyDeleteI tell you , after decorating an entire house in pastel colors (my in-laws - color-phobes), I'm dying to use strong color somewhere...anywhere!
You're right, the red accent wall does look amazing in that room.
