Random Monday Morning Thoughts

This new home tour via Apartment Therapy is GORGEOUS! I'm always such a sucker for home tours...

I was looking for a pair of the perfect summer wedges that could be dressed up or dressed down, and I found them!
Dr. Scholl's Milestone Wedges
Comfort is KEY for me since I'm typically on my feet (and often carrying heavy things!) all day long.

I am still searching for the perfect black pant. I'd love something that's a bit dressier than black denim but not too dressy. I tried on the Cafe pant and Minnie pant at J.Crew but they looked pretty terrible.

Just like these....

I'm not opposed to them being denim, but in my experience black denim always fades and then looks a little "blah" after a while.

Any perfect black pant suggestions??

Also, we made this bruschetta grilled chicken last night and it was AMAZING! So fresh and light, the perfect summer meal.

  1. I just got some great black pants from Gap - they come in various names (ultra skinny, really skinny) - you have to just try them on and find the right one for you. I think I settled on ultra skinny? Anyway, they're a dressier stretch-twill type fabric that doesn't fade like denim, and they're the perfect thickness, length and stretchiness. I love them!

  2. Please share if you find this illusive black pant. I've been searching for two years! And despite JCrew promising that the Minnie is the perfect pant, it was decidedly not perfect!

  3. Those exact two pants at Jcrew looked awful on me as well but I just purchased their black denim matchstick jean. I LOVE them and they are holding up well so far. I've owned their matchstick jean before ( just not in black) and they have really lasted many years ( going on 4 now!) and the navy hasn't faded much. So, I'm crossing my fingers that the black color will stand the test of time :)

  4. I love the super skinny black pant from Gap...has the best fit in length and throughout the leg. Good luck on the hunt!

  5. I have been in search of a good pair of black pants for a while and I love the suggestions. I figured I might have to wait till fall but I might have to check these stores out now! Too bad we don't have a Jcrew where I live or I would go and try them on.

  6. I found some great black pants at Marshalls that are Kenar and have little zippers at the bottom of each leg. Love those wedges!

  7. The gap reallky skinny pants are a life changer!! They're on sale now so low on stock but always come back. They have the perfect amount of stretch but still hold their shape.

  8. Check out the Sloan fit slim ankle pant at Banana Republic. It worked for me (when the J.Crew pants didn't). I had to go up a size - but love the fit. They fabric is a nice weight and doesn't stretch out.

  9. The Hampton crop fit at Banana Republic is perfect! And I believe we are about the same in height!

  12. Ghetto suggestion: Forever 21. Their pants are sometimes kind of awesome (and long enough for tall girls). Worst-case scenario, you're out like $15.

  13. The Extra Skinny from Gap are awesome-I wear them way too much, I'm sure...

  14. Thank you guys so much!!! I may try the Gap extra skinnies next since a number of you suggested them. But I will look into all these options, thanks!!

  15. Here's a hint for your black and dark denim: wash inside out and use Woolite for dark clothes- this combo really helping keep my darks dark for much longer. Good luck in your search!

  16. I was forever looking for the same kind of black pants and I didn't like the fit of the JCrew options either - I found a pair at Target, of all places! Try the Mossimo ankle pant - they have a little stretch, maintain their shape all day, and are super comfortable. For $30, so you can't go wrong!

  17. I also love the extra skinny gap pants. I wear them entirely too much! And for the price they can't be beat!
