Best find.... ever

I have to share with you the best find ever. Check out this beauty...

This past Sunday, I met a client up at the Rose Bowl Flea Market to find some furniture and accessories for her home. At first, things were going a bit slow and we weren't finding anything... but then bam! One amazing thing after another. The best find of the day was this amazing piece. Let me tell you about it. It's completely metal, but also painted silver. It has four teenie tiny little wheels, and that just right amount of "I'm really old" scuff. It even has history - it used to be used in an old hospital.

I'm probably being a bad design/blogger because I'm not showing it to you styled and in the pretty finished room. But I just had to share now!

Also, client's husband isn't loving it, so please leave a comment if you love this as much as client and I do, so we can persuade him :)

  1. Keep it!!!!!!!! Who cares what the man thinks it is one piece of furniture!!

  2. It IS a good find, but I'm wondering if you could sand off the "silver" finish, to determine its original, metal - think it would look more authentic.
If not, I might repaint it something akin to what its original finish might have been - steely gray or maybe a grayish-green. Of course, I'm saying this not knowing anything about the color scheme you and client are going for... Just my two cents!

  3. Happy Place - the silver works perfectly into the plan.. making it just so perfect! The room has charcoals, blues, light blues, silvers and blacks.

  4. Honestly? I dislike it. I know I'm definitely in the minority here, and I hope you are not offended that I am not in agreement with everyone. It looks too uniform in color - with such a great history I'd love to see that displayed in it's paint finish!

  5. Okay I love it! Seriously though, I would use it to glam up a man's tool work area. Putting tools in the drawers lined in muslin, and a block of wood on top to protect the metal from dents.

  7. I would have thought a guy would love it as it is quite masculine in my opinion.

    I like it a lot.

  9. Way to go! I've been looking at getting the Restoration Hardware zinc dresser, http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1613162&navCount=4
I'm sure this was at a much better price. I love breaking up a room w some silver esp if there's too much dark wood or matching wood. I'm sold. Sorry husband! I need one too!

  10. I find that the husbands then brag about it as if it they who were the ones who found it. That happens here all the time.
    I love me some silver....

  13. I generally like it, but the silver seems almost thick to me - I guess I'd have to see it styled. For some reason I think it'd be gorgeous with different knobs perhaps. Definitely a cool and different dressed though.

  18. Husbands (mine included) usually have a hard time visualizing how a piece will fit into the larger scheme. I'm sure it'll look great in the room!
