RAQ's

Hi! My parents were in town and just left yesterday, and took a little break from blogging.

But today I am back with RAQ'S - Recently Asked Questions instead of Frequently Asked Questions. I sometimes get questions in the comments but don't have time to go back and answer them, so I thought I would answer some here today! If I missed your question, let me know!

"Random question prompted by your doggie on the couch.  With a dog and a cat, how do you combat pet fur?"

I really lucked out with this situation because our black dog sits on her black chair and the light cat sits on the light sofa in the living room. But they still do shed quite a bit and I use this on the furniture and it is awesome!

Eureka Easy Clean - $38

What fabric color did you go with on new sofa? It looks soooo comfy!

I used their stock color for the Lounge sofa called "Linen" which is exactly what I was looking for! I love a natural linen color, but luckily this fabric isn't linen.. linen is great but loses it's shape easily.

Just curious, what tables did you order for this room?  I am looking for round tables for my family room too.

I ordered these tables from Noir (to the trade):

NOIR Imperial Side Table in White Wash
The finish in the picture is deceiving, it's actually more white:

NOIR is to the trade, but if you are interested in purchasing from them, contact them directly and they can tell you a store local to you that carries their line... support local businesses!

Do you mind sharing your paint color for the walls in there?!

This question was asking about the paint color in our family room. It's called Snowcap White by Valspar.

Which JCP curtains did you use? I see a lot of designers using JCP curtains these days but when I go to the website I cant tell which ones they used.

(This was in reference to the white pinch pleated curtains in my most recent job posted).

I've actually only used JCP curtains once, but they are a great option for pinch pleats on a budget. If I remember correctly, we used THESE in Cream.

Okay, I need to get going... if I missed your question let me know and I will try my best to answer it in the comments section!!

New Sofa!

This morning I am blogging from our new Crate & Barrel Lounge sofa :) I love it!! It's so deep, it's like a bed (which is exactly what I wanted!) My husband is still on the fence about it, but he's usually reluctant about change, so we'll see!

BEFORE:

"AFTER" (not really an after, but here are some bad iPhone pictures of the new sofa!):

As you can see, I've added the vintage chrome chairs to the space. They are currently orange vinyl and in bad shape, and I will be recovering them in a gray linen blend fabric (you can see the swatch hanging on the chair).

I like this floor plan so much better than the sofa + chaise combo lined up on the wall. I'm sooooooooo happy that's finally gone! YAY!

And the chrome chairs have actually been pretty useful.. my parents are in town visiting, and this layout was working well for visiting and chatting. A lot less awkward than someone sitting on the end of the chaise.

I also LOVE my new berry velvet pillows from Woody Liana. I had them made in a 24"x24" size so they'd be to scale with the new LARGE sofa. And my previous Nympheus pillow (also from her) fits in perfectly.

I know, I'm cringing a bit with Charlotte on the new sofa, but what can I say, we let our animals on our furniture... they are our babies.

On a side note, I've also ordered some 26" round tables to flank the sofa, which will be in scale with the large sofa. Those won't be coming until Aug.

All these pictures are terrible quality, sorry! I'll definitely take some better ones once these orange chairs get recovered!

Loving Lately......

Hey! I haven't done a "loving lately" type of post in a while, so why not post one today? Here is what I'm loving this summer :)

HONEY - I have been obsessed with honey lately. As I've mentioned before, we've cut out refined sugars and "junk" food, but I have a major sweet tooth and honey has become my sweet fix. I especially love it on 0% plain greek yogurt for breakfast (with granola and raspberries.... yum) and I also like to drizzle it on fruit (bananas and apples).

I realize it's not "healthy" since it's pure sugar, but it's definitely better than the bags of Reese's I used to buy and eat in two days (YES I did that, what was I thinking?!)

QUARTZITE COUNTERS - It will be a while before we replace our kitchen countertops (uh, we need to do the tile in the bathrooms first! ha) but I still like to think about/plan what I would do. We went to an Isabella client's house yesterday and she had Quartzite counters that looked similar to the ones above. I loved them!! I'll definitely have to look into this, I'm not too familiar with Quartzite (but from what I've read it's different than Quartz?). I love the color pictured above called White Princess.

SOLID BACKSPLASH: Speaking of counters, I've been digging solid backsplashes that match the counters. It's very "clean" looking.

BUILT-INS: I'm doing some built-ins with a window seat at a client's home, so I've been keeping my eye out for some good examples.

CRYSTAL'S HOME: Crystal's home was shared on Apartment Therapy and I really, really like it. It's so comfortable/not fussy but cool at the same time.

TINY PAINTINGS: I just ordered this tiny (4.5" x 6") painting for our future family room gallery wall and I love it!

The artist is Lauren Adams and here are some more tiny paintings of hers:

In other news, our family room is all cleared out and ready for our new sofa to be delivered today! :)

My parents are also coming into town tonight for a visit. It's a good Wednesday!
