Guest Bath - The 3rd (and final?) Plan

There is one room in our home that I have changed my mind over and over and over again about... it's the guest bathroom. At first I was thinking neutral gray and white striped walls.. then I thought I wanted to do lots of orange, maybe even orange stripes. I guess I never got started on it because I couldn't fully commit.

Well, as I mentioned earlier the time has come to finally put tile in our bathrooms and I'm nailing down some final plans.

Here is my inspiration for our guest bath from Timothy Whealon:

Yup, totally neutral and all whites & creams. I've probably lost half of you who are thinking BORING!!!! Well, what can I say... I love an all white bathroom!

I have a small budget to work with for updating both of the bathrooms upstairs so I am keeping all of the big items for now. Who knows, maybe later down the road I will replace the countertops, or maybe I won't. There is currently a cream faux marble countertop in the bathrooms and I don't hate it.

Anyway, here is the design board for the guest bath:

Guest-Bath

White Dove by Benjamin Moore on the walls (a very soft creamy white). A bright white semi-gloss paint on the vanity and trim. And I think I'll bring the same tile that's currently in our laundry room upstairs into the guest bath with light gray grout. I want a very organic/linen-y shower curtain. I'm considering this one from Restoration Hardware maybe in Ivory or Fog (I still need to look at them).

So that's where I am with the guest bath! I'm going to look at tile tomorrow and start pricing out the floors. I can't wait to have these two rooms done! They are definitely our home's dirty little secret right now... wait until you see the before pictures!

Organization

What is it about the new year and wanting to get organized? Probably because it's like a fresh start.. and I know I'm not alone. If you look at all the major retail websites they have "STORAGE!" links on their homepages.

Anyway, I recently put together some of my favorite organization items (and some that I need) for Houzz.com.

The highest on my list of priorities are our bathrooms. I'm planning on a simple face lift for them and with that I need some major storage updates.

Our linen closet is a MESS. I think these bags would do the trick:

I also am on the prowl for some boxes/baskets with lids for me to put on open shelving in our master bathroom. We have hardly any storage under our sinks and I want to move some of the items out that we don't use every day.

I would love something like this, but in a more natural color:

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get organized!

the best!

At the beginning of House Beautiful there is a section called "the BEST!" They feature all sorts of products and none of them have anything in common except that they are all awesome. Besides the home tours, this is my favorite part of the magazine, don't you agree?

This new West Elm table lamp is absolutely beautiful. Like a work of art (rightfully so, it was created by an artist). I recently picked up two of them for a client.

Champagne Woven Metal Mirror - $284

I just sent this mirror to a client.. I love it! It has such a funky, raw look but still manages to be beautiful.

Labradorite Ring - $72

I have been obsessing over labradorite lately.. the color is amazing!!

The Corkcicle - $25

I got these for a couple people for Christmas and they were a hit. You freeze it, then put it in a bottle of chilled wine and it keeps it cold. Genius!

I got two of these necklaces (which I also love!) for Christmas, so I am exchanging one of them for this necklace above. It's so sweet and delicate.

Far Away, So Close - $30

This horse photograph is so so so beautiful. I want to purchase it for my own home. :)

Natural and Aqua 18" Pillow - $35

I saw these on Pinterest... I love the THICK banding.. a modern take on a classic. I'd have her make the pillows in a large 24" size and put two of them on a sofa.
