Orange you glad...

....when things just fall into place? Ah that was cheesy, sorry guys.

So you know how I blogged about doing this for a shower curtain in our guest bathroom?

Well after I decided on that idea, I went rummaging through my fabrics that I already own to see if there was anything that would work. This bathroom has three functions, so the fabric had to work for all three:

Function 1: The bathroom I use when I'm working in my office down the hall.
Function 2: The bathroom our guests use when they are visiting
Function 3 (someday): The bathroom our future kid will use whenever we have one.

So the fabric had to be pleasing to both adults and kids, and gender-neutral. What better to fit that criteria than ORANGE!

Luckily, I had this orange fabric stowed away... I bought it at a flea market a year ago. I even sold about a yard or two but luckily I kept just enough to work for this project.

Now here is the crazy part. I didn't realize this at the time of purchase, but it looks identical to China Sea's Fiorentina fabric:

It's not the same (the China Seas looks like a bigger scale and whiter), but not bad for a super cheap fabric I picked up at the flea market!

Here is the maker of my fabric:

Luckily I can add this to my list of FREE projects!!

EDIT - WOW. Obviously I am NOT a Million Dollar Decorator because I had NO idea this fabric was worth so much. Thank you all for telling me before I ruined it by using it on a shower curtain. ha! Looks like my game plan will be changing a bit.

Colorado Souvenirs

During our trip to Colorado, I managed to sneak in some shopping (I know, I know I said I was on a spending freeze, but this was vacation and I controlled myself).

First stop was the Brass Armadillo, a HUGE (and I mean huge) antique mall in Denver. I found some old prints that were 50% off.

This 1902 Charles Dana Gibson print cracks me up, I had to get it.

Sucks to be that guy ha!

I also purchased this beautiful 1945 Audubon swan print:

We stopped in an art gallery in Georgetown where I got this beautiful original watercolor. It's called "Summer turns to Fall" which I love, because Fall is my favorite season.

The swan and the trees have been added to my growing collection of art that will someday make up a large gallery wall installation above our family room couch.

My BFF Erin bought my this GORGEOUS Amethyst necklace in a rock shop in Georgetown. She got a matching one.. yeah BFFs forever! (you can never be too old for matching BFF stuff, right?)

It just happen to go perfectly with the dress I wore to the wedding:

THANKS ERIN!!!!!!!!!! Love ya!

I also purchased a BEAUTIFUL sculpture that my husband was not too happy about.. because it needs to be shipped to us. You guys, it's amazing. I cannot wait to share it with you.

Not only will I cherish the memories made in CO, I'll have these beautiful pieces to always remember our time there.

Purple Mountain Majesties

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Fourth of July! You may have noticed by my lack of posts that we have been traveling. We got home last night from Colorado.

In college Matt and I had a group of really great friends. I lived with my best friend, Erin, for half of college and my husband (boyfriend at the time) lived with her husband (boyfriend at the time), Drew for half of college. Did you get that? Drew and Matt also lived with another best friend, Jeremy. Well we all ended up marrying our college sweethearts, and Jeremy was the last of the group to get married. Luckily for us he decided on a destination wedding in Breckenridge, CO! So we have spent the last 6 days in beautiful Colorado.

Luckily for us, our BFFs Erin and Drew live in Denver so we split our time at their place, their parents mountain home in Georgetown, and in Breckenridge for the wedding.

Here is Erin (my roommate in college) and Drew (Matt's roommate in college):

They just had a baby 3 months ago and she is absolutely adorable:

(Poor Andy, whose boyfriend Tay was in the wedding, kept getting grouped with us girls. We kept joking it was like the Modern Family episode when Cam kept getting grouped with the Moms. But he was a great sport and of course we adored him!)

The wedding was GORGEOUS and SO moving. Seriously, I cried. It was embarrassing... let's blame it on the altitude :)

Our guys looked mighty handsome in their tuxes!

The reception was a blast, complete with a photo booth and an impromptu dance off.

"The Pink Ladies" - we all wore pink to the wedding and green to the rehearsal dinner, ha!
