Light & Bright & White

It's 9:26 AM and the sun is shining brightly through my window. This is a HAPPY thing.. it's been cloudy the last couple of days.

I'm in love with this picture today, which is very fitting:

It makes me want to clean my house (it's a mess right now thanks to the laundry room reno) and buy some huge sunflowers (are they even in season right now? Not sure).

Speaking of white, I'm still in love with this:

Recently my mom wrote this on her facebook and it made me smile: A princess marries her prince and the bad guy gets caught and killed; it's like living in a Disney movie.

Life is good!

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

Creative Chalkboards

Well, we are thisclose to finishing the laundry room! This morning my MIL left to head back to California.. she will be missed :(

But the laundry is pretty much finished and I cannot wait to share it with you! (Probably on Monday.. I have a lot of catching up to do with work!)

As I mentioned yesterday, we painted the cabinets above the washer/dryer in chalkboard paint. Since then, I've been remembering creative chalkboards I've seen in the past. Here are a few...

I have always loved Lauren's chalkboard fridge. I know it's not really related to my own chalkboard now, but you better believe I will have a house TO DO list on there :)

This is one of my favorites.. I love the cursive writing and I'd love to add an uplifting quote in my laundry room.

I love this idea of drawing examples of what is behind the door. Maybe behind the door with our laundry detergent I can draw a little bottle!

Some favorites from magazines...

The Laundry Saga Continues....

Are you so sick of reading about my laundry room yet?? We're almost done!

If you recall, after Day 2 the room was ready to be grouted. We knew the grouting process takes at least 16 hours to dry, so we decided it would be best to paint the room first.

Right off the laundry room is the same very light gray/blue that is in our living room and entry (you can see it in the above image to the far right).

After the room was painted, it was time to grout! This was a very messy step, but again.. not too hard.

We let the grout cure for around 20 hours. After the grout was cured, we added new shoe moulding, started painting the cabinets and brought back in our washer/dryer (we really needed to do laundry!)

Here are some "in progress" shots of the room in it's current state:

As you can see, I decided to paint the cabinets in chalkboard paint. This will be a great place to write to-do lists, shopping lists, etc.

We still have a lot to do today (including the threshold strips in front of the doors as you can see). But today will be more of a "fun" day! I hope to have a finished reveal soon!

ps- with all this work in the laundry room, I am behind on putting together the May giveaway. I'll try and post one as soon as I can, sorry!

pps- I'm so happy and proud to be an American today!!!!!!!!!!!!
