Coming Right Up!

Thank you all for the great feedback to my reader request. I not only got some great comments, but some lovely emails too!

It is so helpful being able to see what others have done in the past, even if I don't use your ideas directly. I want to show you some sneak peaks of things I've made decisions on so far...

Remember the invite? It's been sent out and the RSVPs are coming in..

I've also picked the menu: Spinach Artichoke Bruschetta, Crab Rangoon Cups, Homemade Shrimp Cocktail Sauce (with shrimp), Chili, Chipotle Salad and of course, (knock off recipe) Cinnabuns that will be made by the guests for dessert!

Less than 20 days till the big party, I'll be sure to share all the details with you from the fun filled day!

Also coming up on Newlywedisms:
- Sterin's baby room (it's ADORABLE!)
- A special guest blogger
- Pictures of my anniversary present from Matt

Baby (shower) on the brain...

My brain has been consumed by Sterin's baby shower, in which I am hosting. I've had so many great ideas swirling around in my head - I feel like I'm back to my wedding planning days. Which I LOVED. I'm a natural born planner - sometimes to a fault.

I'm keeping my mouth shut for now (the mommy-to-be is a reader of this blog), but the party is October 25th, and I'll definitely share the results.

Can you help me?
For the first time on this blog, I'm asking for some reader participation! I'd love for you to share any baby shower ideas or pictures of showers you have hosted/been to in the past! Since I am so young (24), I haven't been to many showers in my life so I'm counting on you guys for some extra inspiration.

Thank you and have a great weekend! I'll leave you with this beautiful (non- baby shower related) party image....

(no idea where it's from - sorry!)

Cookin' Queen

With our schedules lately, the husband and I have fallen off the wagon of home-cooked meal time. For the past couple months we have just pulled together whatever we can find, or have been eating separately. Next week I plan to get back up on that wagon, and here are some (low fat and low calorie) recipes I've been wanting to try!

Turkey Meatballs with Quick and Spicy Tomato Sauce and Whole-Wheat Speghetti

Chicken-Ham Lasagna

Rosemary-Merlot Flank Steak

Broiled Tilapia with Tomato Caper Salsa

(all images taken from the recipe links)

As you can see, hub and I love comfort food - that's why I love Cooking Light and other sites like that, you can find recipes you love and learn ways to cook them with less calories and fat. I'll have to report back to see how they go!
