The Black Wing Backs

I got these chairs back when I got my green ottoman.. I can't believe I haven't shared them yet! Probably because they pictures aren't so great... sorry.

The before:

And the after:

The wing backs were reupholstered in black sunbrella canvas outdoor fabric, which is fade resistant and soooo durable. Which is good because Charlotte loves sitting in the chair by the window and looking out.

I love them!! I like how they look with the black entry console. Since I really like things in three, I'm thinking of painting the back of the front door black, too. Then there would be three black contrast pieces (in a triangle). hmm... I'll think about it.

Speaking of this room, my brother in law walked into our house for the first time and said "I like what you've done with the place" - looking at the near empty room. He's a joker, but it is true - it's funny how it's so empty, especially since I decorate other people's homes for a living. Slowly but surely!

Random question for those photographers out there - my camera seems to always add a pink hue to my images. Is this something I can adjust in the settings? If so, what typically would it be under? (It's an older Pentax). Thanks in advance!

EDIT- I had some questions about re-upholstery pricing. My work room gives me to the trade pricing, but you can expect to spend anywhere from $200 per chair to $500 per chair depending on the company and detail of the job. I'm sorry that's not very helpful! I recommend asking around in your town, or simply googling. Also a good way to find upholsterers is asking your local fabric store. Usually they have a print out of work rooms you can contact. Always ask for photos of previous jobs, or visit the work room to see their work in person.

quick post, pretty chairs

This is a quick post and I'll get right to it - these chairs are really really good looking. So I thought I'd share them with you. They are all from Jayson Home & Garden.. one of my "I Know I've Made It When I Can Shop There" stores.

Put any one of these in a neutral room and they'd surely sing.

And don't they sort of remind you of fall? Love.

Have A Seat

Let's talk about chrome/metal based dining room chairs. I posted them last week here. Then I was pleasantly surprised to see them in the new Lonny:

Sarah Richardson used these awesome tubular chairs in her office on Sarah's House:

I love the corduroy.

Ikea has these babies for $99.. they are really cool with the "ghost" seat, but look a bit uncomfortable.

Cool set from eBay..

And last but not least, my new chairs! I got them off eBay. I loooooove that the base is brass. It adds just a touch of traditional. Obviously they need reupholstering. I'm not too fond of the indentations, but an upholster can easily remove that.

I have no idea what to reupholster them in... that will be the fun part!

[Can you tell I'm on a mid century modern kick? I have a feeling our new home will be filled with an eclectic mix of mid century modern and traditional pieces.]

[Our inspection is tomorrow. I PRAY everything goes well!! But even if we don't get the house, we'll still need dining room chairs in whatever house we end up in. :) ]

[There is a perfect antique dining room table I'm eying to go with these chairs at a local antique store. My husband said no more furniture until after we pass inspection... fingers crossed it will still be there!]
