Favorite Item Of The Week

So far this week I've been obsessing over this reclaimed wood side table from Overstock:

I love the sleek modern shape mixed with the rustic, worn finish. And those bits of blue! I'm pretty sure I'll be using it for a project.

This lamp would be nice on top of it:

Sale on Mirrors & Other Pretty Things

I like when I receive e-mails about sales, actually open them and then find myself pleasantly surprised at what I see. That's what happened when I got the email about World Market mirrors on sale.*

What I've found with inexpensive big box stores is you have to weed through a lot of the crap to find pieces that are good looking. But through the crap I sometimes see items that look like they could be in high end stores and priced 100% more.

Here are a couple great mirrors that I saw.

This mirror is very pretty. I love the organic shape and the cut outs are very pretty.

mirror 1

Segovia Mirror - $79.99

And another mirror that looks much more expensive than it is... I'm a sucker for mango wood. And I love the nailheads!

mirror 2

Austin Studded Mirror - $119.99

World Market has some other pretty little things, like these tables:

Tristan Table - $79.99

This ottoman is really cool, I wish it came in other colors.

Leather Ottoman - $249.99

A really great dining room bench/settee for a great price. I'm really impressed by the fabric, too (it has a good texture).

* World Market isn't compensating me in any way nor do they know I'm even writing this post. I just thought I'd share some good deals with you as I often like to do :)

I don't usually do this...

I don't usually do this, but I wanted to tell you guys about a new flash sale site that I came across. No, they aren't paying me or even asking me to endorse.. in case you are curious. But it's a new concept and I think it's really cool so I thought I'd share.

In short, celebs curate their own sales. There are some great designers who are on the list such as Windsor Smith, Martyn Lawrence-Bullard (guilty pleasure), Project Nursery, Cynthia Rowley, and a lot of others.

Here is an example.. Liz Lange (the maternity gal at Target) just posted these bracelets:

And what I love about this flash sale site are the quotes:

Liz Lange: "These bangles have a 70's vintage vibe to me. J'adore the mix of skins with gold (I am a gold girl). I want to wear one of these on the same wrist as the 1980's man's size gold Rolex (it used to belong to our father) that I wear everyday."

All I know is I cannot wait for Windsor's sale.

The site is called Open Sky. Click here to join:

I heard through the grapevine

Yesterday Caitlin posted about some rugs found at....... Lands End. What?? I had no idea they had home stuff, let alone great home stuff.

Just in case you didn't see her blog, I had to post it over here, too. It's just too good not to!

Here are my faves:

Holiday Gift Guide 2010 : Men

I'm here with the Men's installment of the Esty Holiday Gift Guide.

1 - Monogrammed Leather Wallet - $140
You can't go wrong with getting your man a really nice wallet. My husband purchased a great wallet years ago and it's still going strong.

2 - Gentleman's Soap - $5
I just have to copy and post the description from Etsy.. it sounds like it smells amazing: "Tobacco and black tea are the dominate notes with hints of fruit and spice blended to remind you of the Gentlemen's clubs of the 18th century. This soap has a heady, masculine scent that will have your nose craving more."

3 - 3D Lion Shirt - $32
This is the perfect gift for those of us who cannot get our husband's 3D TVs this year ;)

4 - Recycled Red Stripe Drinking Glasses - $15
I think these are so cool. You can get your guy's favorite beer made into drinking glasses. I'm partial to the Red Stripe ones.. they have a great logo ;)

5 - Evergreen Painting - $100
A great starter painting that reads very masculine to me. Art may not be something a guy would pick for himself, but it's a very special gift.

6 - Junk Container - $32
This gift makes me laugh a little. Doesn't it always seem that guys have "junk" laying around? I know, one man's trash is another man's treasure. This could be a cute tongue-in-cheek gift.

7 - Laptop Sleeve - $60
A gorgeous tweed-like fabric with leather.. so cool and guy-ish (even though I like the combo for myself, too).

Tomorrow will be a fun one - kiddos!

Holiday Gift Guide 2010 : Women

I decided to do a little Holiday gift guide series this year featuring all things from Etsy.com. You all know how much I love Etsy - I'm all about supporting artists and handmade. It's also nice knowing you're giving something truly one of a kind!

1 - Large Leather Tote Bag - $100
This bag is beautiful and a fraction of the price of a designer bag. The style and color are classic, I'm sure any women would love to get this!

2 - Vintage Glass Candlesticks - $65
I was so blown away by this color. They are a bit pricey for candlesticks, but so unique and beautiful. You could design an entire table around them.

3 - Fig and Almond Sugar Polish - $6.50
A great stocking stuffer or hostess gift. Just reading the description makes me want to take a bath. You can even use it on your face!

4 - Sewn Moleskine Notebook - $6.50
This notebook is so pretty! It would surely get compliments when pulled out to jot down some notes. And.. it's made in France. So cool :)

5 - Blue Topaz Ring - $169
This ring is STUNNING. Not much more to say about that!

6 - Romo Seraphine Lumber Pillow - $65
I adore the pattern on this pillow. And the down insert is included! I'm sure you know my favorite part... the matching piping!

7 - Magic Carpet Painting - $40
This painting is so beautiful. It's small (5x7) but packs a big punch. At first it looks like a piece of marble paper, but as you get closer you'll see it's hand painted. A perfect piece of original art on a budget.

Tomorrow I'll be posting an Etsy gift guide for men and one for children/babies on Weds!

Overstock Stuff I Like

It's been a while since I've browsed Overstock. I like to get on often and just browse to see what new stuff they have - it's good for my e-decorating clients.

Here are some faves..

This rug is just so cool. It reminds me a little of West Elm. The price is amazing ($165 for a 5 x 7).

A nice, neutral faux bois rug:

I love the very sleek lines of this pendant, and the price is great (around 100 bucks).

This chandelier is beautiful! So perfect for a dining room.

Great little end table, only $100.

Another great table.. love the black bamboo. Elegant yet fun.

Nice looking chair, only $300!

You know how I love a contrasting piping!

This pillow is very similar to these throw pillows at Neimans:

Overstock does not compensate me in any way for plugging them. Although for as much as I do, they should! ;)

Wisting

I love "wisting". Even though I rarely ever purchase the items on my wists list, for some reason it's still fun to save pretty things to it. I thought I'd share some of my recent favorites with you:

* I recently saw some similar throws at both Home Goods and Pier 1 for around $40.

I think all of these would be great Christmas presents... speaking of - have you started? I want to start (and finish) soon!

ps- We have all boys in our family with the exception of the moms, which makes Christmas shopping soo much harder.

pps- Do you hate me for mentioning Christmas? ;)

Things that make me stop in my tracks.

Usually I'm go go go on the internet finding things for clients and design boards and sometimes the house. But every once and a while I'll see things that make me stop in my tracks, and I file it them away. Here are some of those things...

Tom's New Wedges

Also, I was able to find a new bathing suit that isn't your typical string-tied, triangle top, way-too-skimpy variety. Although I would have liked a J.Crew suit, I found this suit at Tar-jay for a much more wallet friendly price ($18 a piece):

Surprisingly, it's very similar to one of the suits I wanted at J.Crew:

For all my pale friends out there, buy a white suit - it will make you feel tan!
