This week I updated our bedroom bedding. It all started with a sleepless night. My husband kept complaining that our current duvet (a feather down fill) was too hot. This is what we had:
Considering it's early April and already 84 degrees, I can tell this summer will be a HOT one, and I had to agree a thick feather duvet comforter is a little too hot.
I had a West Elm gift card sitting in my wallet, and while I was there for a client I came across this John Robshaw inspired quilt:
Normally I'm an all-white bedding type of girl, but this quilt was perfect. It's lightweight but still fluffy (what can I say, I'm a princess when it comes to bedding... I need it fluffy!) and the soft gray stripes are perfect for our walls.
And here is the new quilt on our bed:
I love it! I love the mix of patterns with the skirted side tables. It also makes making the bed SO MUCH easier. Duvets are so comfy, but a pain when it comes to making the bed. Oh I'll still pull it out in the winter, but this is great for this summer.
I also had some of these Euro shams from IKEA sitting around... I bought them a while ago but they were too cream for our bedding. Well they work perfectly with the West Elm quilt!
I'm all about details, and love the thick gray stripes with the thin gray stripes. I like my bedding to be not very matchy-matchy.
I know you won't believe me, but I am going to have finished bedroom pictures very soon! I'm just waiting on a mirror that has been back-ordered. I'm also going to hang white drapes that I have on hand instead of the linen ones because the mirror I choose is a bit linen-y colored. And then I'M DONE!! Finally!
(again, sorry for the bad pictures. I keep taking pictures on the days that it's raining.. and being lazy and using my iPhone. Bad blogger!!)
I'm loving all that Les Indiennes and Robshaw inspired stuff at WE - it's so GREAT. Maybe the best way for me to afford that look. I'm a duvet kinda girl too and my hubs has the same complaint! Finally, I broke down and bought a down 'blanket' to use in the hotter months and the 'comforter' rotates back in when it's cooler. I know what you mean about fluff, I like my bed to be like a nest :)
