The cat is still here and I have to admit.... he's won our hearts. We never in a million years imagined ourselves as cat owners, but what can I say HE found US! We're still testing the waters.. but so far so good.
He is indeed a he.. the same day I posted about him (last Thursday) I took him to the vet to see if he had a microchip. He doesn't, and they told me he is an uneutered male (which makes me wonder if he ever belonged to anyone?). We/they also think he's pretty young. We didn't actually see the vet, just the ladies up at the front, so as to his age, etc we're not sure.
We've named him Henry and I'll be taking him to get neutered and shots done soon. Luckily the Humane society is only $30 to neuter male cats! I'll keep you guys updated :)
I have a soft spot for all animals, but Matt wasn't too sure about this cat at first. But now it's safe to say they're buddies. :)
His favorite spot in the house is on our ottoman. It's pretty adorable, actually.
Charlotte has actually been SO great with Henry. At first she wasn't sure what to do about a cat, but now she completely tolerates him (much more so than she does with other dogs).
Whenever he looks at me with his big cat eyes all I can think of is this...
I can't believe I'm even writing this post!

Oh my goodness... Henry is SO cute!!! I can see why he has grown on you!! :)
ReplyDeleteBrynn, Orange cats are the best! But actually male neutered cats are the best!! I'm happy you decided to keep Henry! He is beautiful. I have a male silver tabby called Jackson, who is just like a dog (and two dachshunds!). My next cat will be an orange tabby! From what I've heard, orange cats are always male and calicos are always female. Enjoy your new family member!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like such a sweetheart! I can't believe how friendly he is with you guys so quickly!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! How nice of you to take him in....he looks right at home! Probably the most attention he has gotten his whole life if in fact he was "homeless"....I am a HUGE cat person...so thank you for giving him love and affection and hopefully a forever home!
ReplyDeleteThis has just brightened my day! Henry reminds me so much of my cat Pip. I love to hear that he made you both cat people because Pip was able to do that for my husband. :) There's something about having a sleepy, snuggly cat in the house that just makes it feel even more like a home. Thank you for being so kind and open-minded and bringing this lovable guy in. Feel free to include updates about Henry as often as you like! He is adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteHenry is adorable! How awesome of you guys to take him in - he looks so happy to be with you! And good for Charlotte for being a trooper :) I really hope it works out and you guys can keep him!
ReplyDeleteOrange cats are wonderful! I'm so glad this one "found" you! Remember to get him a scratching post if you haven't already. Enjoy - he looks like a keeper to me!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! He is a beautiful cat. They always find you :) I'm glad you decided to keep him.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly I am a cat person, so I'm probably biased. But he is beautiful and they are so wonderful. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI was a dog person from a dog family and after getting married I am a full on cat lover. They really are excellent companions like their canine counterparts.
ReplyDeleteI am SO happy you decided to keep him! I was secretly hoping you would. He is one of the cutest kitties I've seen and I just adore cats. My heart melts every time you post pictures of him. He looks like such a cuddly sweetheart. YAY!
ReplyDeleteMmm mmm looks like he's right at home ;) Cats have a bad rep, but a good one is a GREAT pet!
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable! He looks very similar to one or our old cats, except she had a bit more white on her. I love fluffy orange cats! He looks right at home with all of you!
ReplyDeleteMeg
I would even adopt that cat...he is adorable, However, both my clients right now have cats and I am decorating the whole house to a void "cat shred" as I have nicknamed it. Get a good scratching post as well as invest in nail covers for his claws.
ReplyDeleteThank you for opening your heart to another animal! Good luck with Henry!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little guy. Glad he found a good home.
ReplyDeleteHenry is so stinkin' cute! So glad he found a great home with you.
ReplyDeleteI was secretly hoping you'd keep him too! My cat lays around like that and it's the cutest thing ever. Male cats do seem to be a lot sweeter too. Also, they make cardboard refillable scratch pads at target and pet stores that keep my cat away from furniture. She instinctively knew that's what it was for!
ReplyDeleteHe's cute and so sweet!!
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so glad that you guys are enjoying him! I love that picture of him with Charlotte staring at him from across the room - so cute!
ReplyDeleteHenry is the absolute cutest. I really hope you guys keep him. We have a friendly dog-like cat and he's the best. I was NEVER a cat person either, but I have to admit they have grown on me. I wanted to also say that the fact Henry let you cut those knots out of his chin is a huge testiment to his temperment. Mine are pretty laid back, but you break out the scissors and they will not just sit there like he did. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I am responding since I am not a cat fa, but you are right...he's a sweetie!
ReplyDeleteMakes me want to get a cat and i'm not a cat person at all!
ReplyDeleteYAY YAY YAY YAY. this totally warms my heart!!

Aww Henry! He must be quite the little charmer, haha! We actually ended up with one of our dogs the very same way. One night he just showed up on our door step and after posting fliers with no takers, he's been ours ever since. I think they really do pick us sometimes.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Henry! And congratulations to his proud new mom and dad!!!!
ReplyDelete(He is the kitten's mittens!!)
That is one beautiful stray cat. Was he very matted when you found him (or when he found you)?
ReplyDeleteYes, and he still is! The vet shaved a lot of his dreads off but he still has some more that we need to get cut out.
ReplyDeleteHe is the sweetest!!!! Congrats on your new addition :)
ReplyDeleteThat post of him on your ottoman - and snuggling with Matt - is just the cutest. And I'm so telling my Henry that you named your new kitty after him. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat thought did come through my mind, Traci! Love the name Henry :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I like how you ended with not believing you were writing this post. I'm not a cat person either but even I have to admit that those pix are pretty irresistable. So stink'n cute Henry is!

That is such a cute cat!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteHe's so adorable!
ReplyDeleteBryn, I'm so happy you're keeping him! He really did wander into your hearts, didn't he? I'm so excited for you. Our cat loves the ottoman too - it's really just become his place to hang out. And, fair warning, our cat likes to sleep in the couch. He pulled down the lining underneath so he can crawl in.
ReplyDeleteUm, hi Emily R. I'm Emily R and I'm a cataholic. So glad to know I'm not the only one. Bryn, Henry reminds me of my cat, Charlie. He's just too cute and I'm so happy that he's now a part of your family!
ReplyDeleteThis just makes my monday! He looks so happy :-)
ReplyDeleteOh he is precious!! You are amazing for keeping him. My "child" is a cat, so I have a soft spot for them. Congrats on your new family member!
ReplyDeleteCats really do just have a way of finding who they need. I've had two cats in my life, and both of them found us, not the other way around. I'm glad you get to keep him and I am also glad for him that he has found you.

He's adorable! I can see why you're in love!
ReplyDeleteglad you kept him...he is looks sooo happy
ReplyDeleteHa, my Odie loves the ottoman as well!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, how can you resist? That cat isn't going anywhere! He looks perfectly at home! :)

This is made me so incredibly happy! I was hoping you were going to keep him :) I was actually never a cat person either but my boyfriend is an animal lover (I call him Dr. Doolittle) and showed up with 2 cats over the years. Now, we are so embarrassing with them. I love them so much and think of them as my kids. I hope Henry makes a smooth transition into the fam. He's so handsome!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that cat is so cute he almost looks like a doll! Good luck with your new family member, I hope everything works out. I agree that a couple of scratching posts will be another good addition. My cats also love our sisal rugs and they hold up incredibly well to kitty nails.
ReplyDeleteYou can't find a cat THAT cute on purpose even! Lovely little furry guy.
ReplyDeleteWe are a cat and dog family too and it's really a good combination. Looks like this kitty has hit the jackpot finding you and your husband for a family. I'm so thrilled with your decision to let him stick around.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable cat, I think that's so awesome of you to take care of him, he just wanted some love! As sad as it is to think, you know that a lot of people wouldn't do that for a stray cat.
ReplyDeleteCutest cat EVER! Cats are wonderful pets - you will enjoy the simplicity of his companionship.
ReplyDeleteAww...you are so sweet to take care of this adorable cat. He reminds me a little of your brother's cat, who was more like a dog! (We used to take walks with him!) Can't wait to meet Henry!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of you to give this sweet boy a chance!!!
ReplyDeleteHenry is such a cute cat now I understand why he won your heart. To be honest I also don't think I can be a cat owner but having someone like Henry will be great.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read that you were looking for a home for this cat, I knew he had already found one. Cats are awesome little creatures.
ReplyDeleteCongrats for the adoption, he's so cute. You will not regret.
ReplyDeleteAww, what a cute little furball! Our Sadie is furry just like that, and her favorite spot is on anyone's lap! :)
ReplyDeleteIf Henry is a Maine Coon (he looks like an orange one) they are the most loving cats. We have one whos 7 now and she is such a cuddler. Good Luck with the new addition, you won't regret it!
ReplyDeleteAHHHHH!!! so sweet, and im so happy he's winning you guys over :) he's a real cutie!
ReplyDeleteYou will not regret taking in this kitty cat! I've had cats all my life, and while I do love dogs, no animal will love you in quite the same way as a kitty. :) An endless supply of cuddles, giggles, and snuggling? What more could you ask for!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the newest member of your family! I'm so glad that he found you guys and that you opened your hearts to him.
