And for my next project....

Can you believe it's August ?!?!?! Damn! Time flies....

This month my MIL and DIY-partner-in-crime is coming to visit and I'm planning another project for us. I haven't quite broken the news to her just yet, but I'm hoping she's down ;)

It won't be as crazy as tiling, though (hopefully). I'm sick of looking at the un-touched guest bathroom (it's usually what I use while working at home). Here it is in it's current state:

LUCKILY the walls were faux finished instead of wallpapered... phew.

On the TO DO list:

+ Repaint Walls & Vanity

I am pretty sure I'm going to go with a striped wall in the guest bath like this:

This will be the "hardest" task for MIL and me.

+ Lengthen white shower curtain with fabric trim, like so:

I'm not using the Fortuny fabric anymore (ha!); I just placed an order for this super inexpensive indoor/outdoor Premier Prints fabric:

+ New Pulls

A while ago I had these knobs laying around and I added them to the guest bathroom:

They are glass and and I love the little fun detail! To "match" I will be getting these pulls for the vanity:

+ New Mirror & Light

I haven't completely made up my mind on these yet. But this is only $48.. good deal:

The tile will come later.. I'm pretty sure I will hire someone to do the two upstairs bathrooms because I don't want to deal with subflooring and the carpet!

This month's stage of the update will be pretty inexpensive.. my current budget breakout:

Paint - $50?
New Hardware - $30
Fabric for Shower Curtain - $30
New Light - $50 (one above?)
New Mirror - $100 (??)

  1. Sounds like a fun and pretty bathroom! Great choice on the fabric... whatcha gonna do with the fortuny fabric?

  2. Oh I like where your heads at. Love the striped walls idea. I can't get enough of stripes. Every time I'm in my shower  I start thinking about how much I want stripes in my bathroom. I'm just too lazy to paint them. lol. Your bathroom sounds like it's going to be great!

  3. Hey Bryn, can't wait to see it all done! You are so lucky to have such an awesome MIL!! Here are some bathroom lighting links I've saved...good luck!

  4. Haha, OK, you broke the news to me!!  Yes, I will do this project with you.  See you in a few weeks!

  5. Can't wait to see! Great idea to sow the fabric at the bottom of a shower curtain!!

  6. It's going to look so beautiful when it's done. I love your fabric and knobs/pull selection. Can't wait to see the finished result!

By the way, I am hosting a giveaway, so don't forget to enter for a chance to win a fabulous piece of jewelry of your pick!

    Have a great day!

  7. This will be a fabulous spruce up when you're done. I like that you're going bold with the Premier Prints fabric but keeping the rest of the bathroom subtle.

  8. I'm also working on my guest bathroom! Its always something...

  9. Can't wait to see how your bathroom turns out. I am glad that you decided against using the Fortuny fabric and went with something inexpensive.

  10. LOVE the colors!

  11. I am really loving the striped walls. My husband and I are going to be re-doing our bathroom as well. I may steal this. Thanks for sharing!

  12. It is gonna look awesome! I like the striped walls. Great idea for the shower curtain!

  16. Love all the elements going into this room.....the stripes and pattern for shower curtain! Especially love the glass pulls (just used them in my kitchen). They will look great with everything else! Yea for getting help with this project.

  17. Where did you originally get the photo of the purple bathroom??

  18. Hi Bryn,
Do you have any idea of the source for the pink bathroom picture? I am OBSESSED with those pendants but can't seem to find them on the internet.  Any help would be much appreciated!
