This sideboard... I'm in love. I've been thinking about it for WEEKS. Maybe even months.
It was originally available at Jayson Home & Garden but is no longer available. Even if it was still available, it'd be out of my reach.
It's exactly what I would like for a TV stand in our family room to replace the hand-me-down we currently have.
This sideboard is currently on Craigslist, but it's $270, the mirror would need to be removed and most importantly the burlwood is too pretty to paint over and distress:
Yup.. I have major furniture integrity :)
I thought I'd put this out into the world... maybe there is a local reader who has one sitting in their garage waiting for a new life. haha I wish!

Found this on DFW craigslist and it's been there a while - maybe they'd come down in price? Your parents could take a look at it for you --

Love the burlwood dresser! Do you have experience in taking the mirror off the dresser? Is it easy to hide the holes afterwards?
ReplyDeleteI've been eyeing a gorgeous antique dresser with chevron inlaid wood detailing (!!!!!) but I'm hesitating because I want to take the mirror off and not sure how it will go... Would love your thoughts!
We have something in the garage that is roughly that size and shape. The style is not the same though. It's Stickley...an arts and crafts style. And there are two large drawers instead of doors like you've shown on the two pieces above. Are you looking for doors since you'll be using it for components, etc? Let me know and I can snap a picture for you...
ReplyDeleteThe burlwood dresser is a stunner! I sure hope you ended up getting it. And I thoroughly agree that it is too pretty to paint over. (I have a gulp of sadness when people paint over amazing timber finishes. Sure, sometimes a lick of paint can improve things, but only when the original is in a sad state.)
ReplyDeleteYou have a great blog, btw.
Greetings from a designer on the OTHER side of the world, down under in Melbourne Australia.
Oh, I love that burlwood piece! I wonder where I could use that?????
ReplyDeleteThe burl wood piece (minus mirror ) is stunning! Why don't you consider using that? maybe move black pillow and/or throw from the white chaise onto the other chair. This would bring some black over that way to ground that side of the room next to burl piece and television. That burl piece is CLASSY!!!! Hard to see knobs on it but maybe consider painting black and that would make burl piece have a beidermeier look to it. I see great possiblilities with that piece as is. Hope it is still available for you!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for having furniture integrity! Sometimes you just can't paint a piece of furniture...
ReplyDeleteYes, that piece is fabulous, great color and love the worn finish. I can see why it's caught your eye! Janell
ReplyDeleteWisteria has something similar to that, but I'm sure it's more than you want to spend.

Keep your eye's pealed... I'm sure there is one out there in a thrift store waiting for you! (And not such good quality wood that you can't rough it up.)
I have several pieces of furniture in my garage that I'm not sure what to do with, but not one like this. If I did, I'd give it to you to make you own. I'm sure you'll find the perfect piece and I can't wait to see it when you do.

ReplyDeleteIf I had the room I would have a couple of these. I would paint them in every color.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
I am glad to see you have standards about furniture too! It sure is pretty!
