BORING!
And here is the "after" (I use this term very loosely, because there is sooo much more to do):
It's really nice to finally have color in this room!
The color for the ottoman was inspired by the view from our living room out into our backyard (and the greenway behind it). Here is a picture I took this summer:
Every evening while watching TV, I love to out into the trees while the sun sets. It's nice that when winter comes and all the leaves are gone I'll still be able to enjoy the color!
I found the fabric in the Indoor/Outdoor section at Mary Jo's. It sort of looks like linen, but has the durability of outdoor fabric.
I had the ottoman custom made. The cowhide was purchased from Tandy Leather - they have a great selection and GREAT prices. The cowhide was only $150! Our carpet (which sort of looks like sisal) is very light, and the room is large so we really needed a rug to anchor the space.
And here is what the scene looks like on Sundays - lounging, laptops and Nascar! (Any Nascar fans out there? Probably not.. but it's one of our guilty pleasures. We do live in Charlotte after all!)
Next up are pillows.. as you can see I desperately need some! (I really don't think I'll keep the Target zebra print pillow in this room... the cowhide is enough animal for me.)
(I must admit I
Love that green! And dare I say I like what the red of your husbands shirt does with it. Hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteoh you wouldn't want to see what our looks like on a Sunday :P
ReplyDeleteIt looks STUNNING, beautifully made!
I love your ottoman! The colour is gorgeous and outdoor fabric is a great choice- it looks fantastic in your room. I have a large tufted ottoman in my living room as well and I love it- I find them really practical and they just look so pretty:)
ReplyDeleteI think your room is coming along great!
ReplyDeleteWe are also NASCAR fans and football fans, so our living room looks the same way on the weekends!
Love the ottoman!
ReplyDeleteThe green is perfect!
ReplyDeleteSo I have to ask because I've always wondered... does lining up your furniture along the wall make it hard to look at each other? I usually see furniture more angled in toward each other.
Very nice! The fabric on the ottoman is the perfect shade of green!
ReplyDeletelooks great! the hide really anchors the room well!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE the ottoman! I was hoping to DIY one like that, but I'm sure mine wouldn't turn out nearly as nice as yours. Was wondering if you could share the dimensions and maybe even the cost of having it done by a professional?
ReplyDeleteI like it! It's amazing what one little pop of color does to help a space out. I'm sure it will be fab once you get completely "done"!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aimee--can you please share some more info on the ottoman? I'd like one in that style, but most I've seen are either too expensive or way too small for my space.
ReplyDeleteLove the room! Our ottoman in our family room is probably the same fabric and we love it. I would love to know more about your carpet. We need to replace our but I don't really like carpet, although it is the most practical for us. Yours does look like Sisal!
ReplyDeleteMore love for the ottoman, it's fabulous! Congrats, the whole room is coming along really nicely.
ReplyDeleteI love the ottoman. The tufts are deep, my favorite! :)
ReplyDeletegreat ottoman, i love the color

ReplyDeleteOoooh. Looks a ton better. Have you considered painting that sucker? (the t.v. console, that is)...

ReplyDeleteWow! What a difference that gorgeous green ottoman and the rug made (I have an ottoman obsession!) - love what you've done with the new things - beautiful. It was nice seeing the before and after (this is my first time on your blog) - that pop of color really made the room - great job! I agree the zebra pillow needs to go.
