I think a bathroom should be three things:
1. Calm
2. Clean
3. Clutter-free
And yes, they all start with the letter "c", which was completely unintentional.
When it comes to what to decorating a bathroom, I have three rules:
1. Scale down and put only what you absolutely need in your bathroom. (And I'm mostly talking about products).
2. While furniture steals the show in the rest of your home, hardware and lighting steal the show in the bathroom.
3. There are some great exceptions to this last rule, but typically I like to keep bathrooms neutral and/or monochromatic.
Here are a couple bathroom design/accessory boards I recently have done...
And because we are on the topic of bathrooms, here are some of my favorites :)

I LOVE that final bathroom- it is in my absolute favourite rooms ever folder- so pretty! Great post and I loved your accessories board- the lucite pulls are divine!
ReplyDeletei love the second picture and the last one..its amazing what simply changing your bathroom mirror can do.
ReplyDeleteI agree...I wish ours was more clutter free, but for some reason men, or at least my man enjoys displaying or having accessibility to everything he might ever possibly need while getting ready. It's annoying, but we are trying to break the habit.

Hi Bryn. I started reading your blog last summer and I look forward to your daily post. I love your taste and admire your journey into interior design.
ReplyDeleteI'm preparing to redo the master bathroom in my new house. I've been referring to this post a lot as I search for everything. I fell in love with the Gella mirror but now I'm confused as to what finish I should choose for the faucet and light fixtures. Since the mirror has gold in the frame, I was thinking of going with a satin or brushed nickel faucet. Do you think I should choose a light fixture in the same finish, or find something in a finish similar to the mirror? I would also like to add a glass shelf below the mirror like the first picture. Would I have to match the hardware on the shelf to the faucet or to the light fixture? Here's the link to the mirror: http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/mirrors/uttermost-gella-mirror-ii/silver/31212595BWM.html?utm_source=googprod&utm_medium=feed
