On the two days that I work at the shop, I'm exposed to 'high' design items that I normally wouldn't spend much time around. I've learned so much from working with these items; it's helped train my eye to find the 'high' in the 'low'. [ And there is nothing wrong with 'low'.. it's thrilling to find great deals for both myself and my clients. I love Sarah Richardson because she mixes an IKEA kitchen with Schumacher drapes. ]
Here are some inexpensive items that look so much more expensive than they really are - my favorite kind of stuff :)
I recently used this coffee table for a client. In my opinion, it's much more substantial and interesting than it's CB2 rival.
I had a pretty well known designer email me about this chair I designed asking where I got the fabric. I told her, you're not going to believe it, but it's only $8 a yard!
I really enjoyed sharing these with you, so I think I'll bring this post back. I tagged it "It cost WHAT?" so we can play again :)

I've been eyeing that rug on Overstock. I'd love to see it in person. I might have to order it so I can see it for myself. Also, I think Premier Prints could get away with charging more for their fabrics, but I don't want too many people to say that or they might just start doing just that!
ReplyDeleteThat Nate Berkus table is really fab!
ReplyDeletelove the black and white stripe fabric. i really want to try and do some drapes like jenny did on LGN. would this fabric work, or is the stripe horizontal to the width?
ReplyDeleteI love "it cost what?" Bring 'em on!!
ReplyDeleteI love West Elm Sutton Sofette. It is so pretty. Ah. :))))
ReplyDeleteThank you and have a great day.

Wow - the marble coffee table is a lot of glam for cheap!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about upholstering a chair in black and white stripes -- you may just have convinced me!
ReplyDeleteAnd that peacock rug is fab -- I just posted this week about a Thomas Paul peacock rug on rue la la -- but that one from overstock is an even better deal!
Fun post! I think a big part of what is so fab about the black/white fabric is how you offset the stripes on the chair!!
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing that Nate Berkus table for a couple of weeks now, but I'm concerned about the quality. Has anyone seen it in person? One of the reviewers on HSN said it was wobbly.
ReplyDeleteFun post, and great deals! I can't wait until the next "It Cost WHAT?"
