[ a gorgeous jadeite collection via Country Living ]
You can find a good collection of jadeite on Etsy and eBay. Look at this beautiful vintage water jar:
What a wonderful piece, but at $375 it's a bit out of my price range.
This is a great little piece, I love the embossing:
This piece is gorgeous! So gorgeous, that I decided I had to have it for my first piece.
Jadeite can be a bit pricey to collect, but it's something that is done over time. Collections also make for great gifts! My mother in law collects vintage cameras, and my mom collects art glass paper weights.. so if all else fails, I know of good gifts!
Do any of you collect jadeite?
Those glasses are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI have a small collection and really love it - a couple cake stands and some bowls. It is definitely pricey but you can also find some reproductions that are more affordable. I have a batter bowl that is new and you can hardly tell the difference between it and my antique pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea! Can't wait to see the display as it grows. I don't collect jadeite but we've started to collect oyster plates to hang on the wall.
ReplyDeleteMy mom bought me a starter collection as an engagement gift years ago. I love how they look new and fresh despite being 50-60 years old. It is so exciting to stumble across pieces at garage sales and thrift stores, they are always my favorite finds!
ReplyDeleteyou can mainly thank martha for how pricey jadite is now...lol.
ReplyDeleteNo, but I love it! If I were to collect something it would be jadeite. Unfortunately for me, I have no place to put such a collection. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI have a few pieces and have fancied collecting it. I have a friend that has collected Jadeite since she was in high school. She has them displayed in her kitchen and it makes me a bit envious.
ReplyDeleteI don't collect it, but it is so pretty! This makes me want to research identifying genuine Jadeite so that I can collect the real deal for my etsy vintage shop.
ReplyDeletei love jadite! i don't collect it (yet) because i feel like i already have too much going on with my fiestaware (which i use for everyday dishes), fine china, and depression glass. jadite is so pretty though and if someday i'm in a bigger house with more space to store dishes it's next on my list.
ReplyDeleteI do! I've bought some bowls and small plates over the last few years from ebay and I love them. Such a classic look. I can only buy a little at a time though!
ReplyDeletelove jadite....i have some pieces but my mom has lots more...and hopefully one day she will give them to me:) yard sales are great spots to find good prices.
ReplyDeleteI'm a collector too, I focus just on the jadite vases mostly, they come in such fun shapes, and i love how they pop against a bright white wall or white table cloth!
ReplyDeleteOooh pretty! I'm sure jadeite will be the perfect addition to your home :)
ReplyDeleteJadite is so pretty! I collected American Modern by Russel Wright for years ... I ended up with so much that I was ready to move on to something else, but I loved it!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with starting a collection, jadeite is gorgeous. That's quite interesting that your mother in law collects vintage cameras, I have a friend who collects toy cameras and any old Russian camera he can get his hands on.
ReplyDeleteYour fist collection piece is beautiful! Perfect hue and simple classic shape.
ReplyDeletePretty! I've never heard of jadite before, but I'm a convert now.
