Please Use Your Imagination

Today our family starts coming in from out of town. We have my parents, my husband's parents and my husband's grandparents visiting us in our new home.

I wish our home was looking more like this....

and less like this:

Dear Family - please use your imagination and pretend our home isn't the construction zone it really is.

I won't be around my computer much with my family here, so everyone please have a great and safe weekend!

Your house looks perfectly fine. Sometimes I think we are too critical on ourselves. Think if that was a friends house would you have any problem with any of the rooms? Have a great weekend with all your family.

Oh honey, they are going to be so happy to see you in a permament home...they know you'll work your magic in time.

You might even be able to put them to work on wallpaper or paint! :)

Try not to focus on the flaws and enjoy the house and the warmth, laughter and fun that will be in it with family visiting. It's all your's! And it's going to be great. Just stare up at the smooooooooth ceilings. That alone is heaven.

You are too cute. Have fun with your family this weekend. I know you won't allow dissatisfaction with your surroundings (which is temporary!) to affect your attitude as you host your guests, but I wanted to put that out there. They are there to see you, and know that you are starting out in your home. Enjoy! The changes will happen as they happen.

When we were renovating and I was feeling anxious, my mom would always tell me to focus on what I could do - clean. At least if everything was neat, even if it was just stacks of boxes, that was presentable. It looks to me like you've got that covered. And, all the work and time it took will be so worth it soon! ;)

Have a great weekend!

For starters - it's already come a long way - your living room looks so open and bright! Second, this is a good thing - this way on your next visit everything will look that much more amazing after seeing where it started. Enjoy your time with your family!

It looks like your making good progress. Im sure it will look amazing once you have finished. My living room is a very similar shape and has the cathedral ceiling like yours. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out. Hope you have a lovely time with your family regardless. :)

Hi Bryn, Your family will be able to see beyond the 'need to be painted' surfaces and be excited for you about the great purchase and lovely creative plans for the house. I'm sure they'll comment on how fabulous the light is (as I admired in your loungeroom photo)! Enjoy their company,
Emily

Hey, your ceilings look great and even though it isn't the way you want it too look right now, it appears clean, neat, simple and put together. Have fun hosting!

You are doing way better than I would have so far. Your family will be more excited just to see the place and happy that you guys are all moved in. If it really bothers you still you could always show them the images of what you have in mind for each area. No worries, enjoy the weekend!

Hey Bryn!
I'm a fellow Charlotte girl too (moved here a year ago)- My hubby and I were in your exact shoes one year ago while redoing our farmhouse in Mooresville- it's still an ongoing project, but coming along. At least your AC didn't crap out the first week you moved in (ours graced us with that pleasure). Can't wait to see pics as the house evolves!

Hey there! Any idea of whether that second photo (bedroom with the wicker night stand) is from? I'm dying to find a cabinet just like it!
