Do you want to see it's current state?
Some things to note:
+ I love our black curtains. I got them from smartbargains.com. They are blackout, which will help in the summer when it's a million degrees outside.
+ I love love love the light we get in this apartment. It makes the beige worth while.
+ That is where Charlotte spends 96% of her days. There or the chaise.
+ Still no dining room table. Why haven't we gotten it yet, especially since it's only $150??
+ Thank you apartment complex maintenance man for installing my drapery and pendant light. You rock.
+ See the big box near the fireplace? That's our extremely broken dining room table base that weighs a million pounds. Not sure how we are going to move it.
Moving on to the "dream scheme" part of the post. See, I haven't been able to get this color scheme out of my head. I stare at it everyday on my inspiration board while sitting at my desk:
The purple, the green, the tiny bit of pink.
And voila, here it is in room form:

I absolutely think this color scheme will work in our beige-overloaded apartment. Especially with the black.
Zoom in a bit... I'm completely enamored with the mirror(s).
Yup, I think it's a definitely DIY project in my future.
I think this whole plan can have a nice start with this pretty pillow from Fabricadabra:
So that's where I'm at with the APT. Thoughts? Comments?
I MUST know where that pendant lantern came from!
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to seeing the DIY of those mirrors!

Definitely a lot of beige! So many apartments default to having that problem these days... since they all seem to be trying to avoid white walls & end up practically matching the paint to the carpet!
ReplyDeleteAnyway! I LOVE that color scheme you proposed. It's lovely and just perfect.
How did you hang the curtains in the bay window? Did you get a rod that goes around the bay? I can't find a rod for my bay window and I currently several large wood rods with connectors and it looks terrible. I'd love it if you'd share the info about your curtain rod.
ReplyDeleteOMG Bryn I LOVE this color scheme! Obviously, since it's my company colors!!! Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeletegee, those same colors are in your MIL's living room...in different patterns of course, hhhhmmm.
ReplyDeleteI think some throw pillows, art, and accessories will have the apartment looking fab in no time! The beige won't even be an issue anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love the color scheme! And those mirrors....oh, those mirrors are so cool.
ReplyDeleteAt least you have tall ceilings and plenty of windows! That's better than many apartments. And so happy to see that you changed your light fixture -- that makes SUCH A DIFFERENCE! And you can take it with you!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that picture! I'm glad you liked it as well! :) Do you want the link so you can see the rest of her work?
ReplyDeleteKate - I bought the pendant two years ago from JCP and spray painted it black.
ReplyDeleteOooh I definitely think you are making a fabulous choice with that color scheme! The pillow from fabricadabra will be the PERFECT addition. Can't wait to see it all come together! :)
ReplyDeletesame problem here. beige everywhere. white would be doable but beige throws everything off. the mirror project would be awesome. i have a huge mirror that is distorted in a couple places/scratched, but would look awesome with a project like this. i have been thinking about it and glad you shared those images.
ReplyDeletePurple and green is my FAVORITE color combo. They were even my wedding colors, and almost exactly the same shades you are sharing.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good! Love the black curtains, they were a great choice for sure. A nice change from all the beige :)
ReplyDeleteWhy not paint over the beige? You did in the bedroom, which I am assuming you will have to repaint, so I'd go ahead and do the main living area. :-)
ReplyDeleteJenny, the thought did cross my mind. But that is one task that I am not willing to do in a place we'll most likely only be in for a year (maybe less). Especially since the ceiling is beige too! Too much of an undertaking.
ReplyDeleteYour apartment looks beautiful! That photo you have saved for your inspiration board is very inspirattional, and I can't wait to see what else you do for your place!
ReplyDeletewelcome to the south, where the apt maintenance men will do a little extra, for a little extra.
ReplyDeletei like how you've personalized the apt with the curtains and the pendant light--fab. can't wait to see how everything else comes together.
Love your light fixture...where did you get it???
ReplyDeleteyou are right, that beige is awful! it could use some white walls and some colorful accesories.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you've done with the apartment! Bryn, you could make an outhouse look appealing ;) lol
ReplyDeletethe apartment has such good bones for an aparment! the curtains look awesome. as much as i am not a fan of beige, i think it your apartment wears it well! you'll have it looking super in no time with accessories and such. have fun!
ReplyDeleteone of my good friends has his apartment that color scheme! his is a little more boyish of course, but purple/chartreuse/white and gray against chocolate brown wood, and it looks AMAZING. I say do it!
ReplyDeletelove the photo of all that purple...but i dont know if I am sold on it in the room...just my o..
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love it! Can't wait to see how you make it work!
ReplyDeleteThat purple and green were my wedding colors and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it! So unexpected yet elegant. Good luck and I can't wait to see the end results.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the color combo! What does the MR. think?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! All the colors are absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeletethat room is pretty intense but I think you're right...I think you could totally rock it in beigeland.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a purple and green color scheme in our newly remodeled house. I love these colors together. I went bold and had the walls painted two shades of green, it looks awesome. I'm currently looking for a purple sofa, but if we can't find that perfect one I'll go with beige and accent with purple pillows and accessories. Excited to see your ideas in your new place.
